Elseworlds stories eschewed established continuity in order to give readers fresh takes on DC's iconic characters, and Gotham By Gaslight was a graphic novel that kicked off this line of comic books.

This trailer boasts cool visuals in its depiction of Gotham and its citizens, and fans should appreciate the subtle attempt to mirror Mike Mignola's art style. The story takes place after a series of gruesome murders targeting women. Batman must then use his skills to bring the murderer to justice.

Check out the trailer below. Are you excited for this next offering from DC Animation? Tell us in the comments.

Batman: Gotham By Gaslight will be released in 2018.

No Kevin Conroy makes me kind of sad, but I can't really criticize, its just me being greedy.

People complaining no Conroy even though this had Bruce Greenwood who was Batman in the best DC animated film to date.

Anyway this better be good or I’m done with DC animated films. Gotham By Gaslight is one of my favorite stories & I love Mignola

What ever happened to these movies trying to match the artwork of the comic? It looks like the same style as what they used for The Killing Joke. I miss when DC animation looked this:

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - These movies had quality animation, now they look like they're not even trying...

SPOILERS PROBABLY

They had Harvey Dent in the sneak peek earlier. They’re not slick at ALL, they’re totally going to pull the Jekyll & Hyde BS and have him be the Ripper, since Bruce’s random “uncle” isn’t in this one.

Ugh, such trash, diminishing Bruce’s like, oldest friend, down to a gimmick again.

Looks great, but I didn't see anything remotely steampunk. Which is good.

Love Elseworlds. Such a fun sanbox to take established characters and add an interesting twist to them that isn’t possible in normal continuity. I’ll def give this one a go, looks good.

Of the cast, so far we have Bruce Greenwood as Batman, Jennifer Carpenter as Selina Kyle, and Anthony Head as Alfred.

DC animated projects: adapted (bungled) from strong comic book source, great vocal cast, box art that no animated project could ever live up to, cheap-nasty animation. Must include Batman.
