According to Live For Films, they have received an e-mail claiming that Christopher Nolan (director of Batman Begins & The Dark Knight, and the man that will be behind the eventual Superman reboot) has been talking with Billy Zane. They also say they received another e-mail (which according to them, is pretty reliable) saying the same thing. This is indeed interesting stuff, considering Nolan has no known plans to make any movies other then Batman 3 and Superman after Inception, so this could mean Zane may appear in either one of them.

Zane has a pretty significant likness to Lex Luthor, and no doubt could play it in a Nolan directed Superman. I assume this may be the role he is in contention for... however, do you have any idea who Zane could play in Batman 3?

I can definitely see Zane as Luthor. Lex has always been under rated as a villain in the movies. They make him out as a super genius (which he is), but if you want it close to the comics, he is actually a well trained fighter and more in shape than the previous versions. He would be perfect.

Billy Zane isn't a very good actor. He may look a bit like Lex but so what? I have never seen him give a convincing performance in anything. The closet thing to even appearing in a decent movie is his 5 minute role in Tombstone. This dude would totally ham it up..you think Spacey was bad? Imagine his character in Titanic x 100

I kinda like Zane. Like you said about Spacey, he was terrible. So how bad could Zane be? He was rather convicing in that tales from the crypt movie he did. But I see where you're going with that ;) I'd give Zane a day in court though. Especially if it was a smaller role for Lex, which is what the part really needs... less screen time.

I agree 210%!!! I'm not much of a Zane fan but i think he'd fit this role to a T and not just physically. I just hope the director of the film will be able to force the best out of him.

when they first came out with the first reboot i said zane should play lex. his look and voice sound exactly like the evil lex we saw for 10 years in the cartoons. just as i said henry simmons should make a brief appearance as Steel so they can spin off and reboot that so shaqs lame ass cant take credit anymore
and superman could be welling or someone close to the long haired superman not short hair.

Call me a Smallville fan on some levels but I rather see Michael Rosenbum as Lex but that isn’t going to happen. Zane he so looks the part, regarding how he acts. I don’t recall anything he’s been so I can’t go off from that. I can only base on what you guys say. Listen if his acting sucks, perhaps this is his calling and he will surprise all of us; it happened with Ledger.

even tho the phantom was a bust zane didnt do horrible in that movie either and critizing any actor or actress from Zoolander is just wrong that whole movie had stupid written all over it lol ben stiller hilarious

...has everybody forgotten what Nolan's all about? The first thing I thought of when I saw Zane was Black Mask, one of the fan favorites for the third Batman...and if Nolan stays true to his vision of the realistic and film noir that was in Begins and Knight, Black Mask as the next crime wave would make sense...even if Zane's not up for THAT role, I think it's more plausible that Nolan would be courting Zane for a role in the new Batman rather than the Superman movie...if he's producing Superman, whoever directs would probably be the one to court actors with Nolan's input...or they could just be getting together for a threesome with Maggie Gyllenhall (sic)...:D

I always think of Zoolander when I think of Billy Zane. He's a cool dude. Just give the guy a chance. You never know. I liked him in Demon Knight too. He did well there.

Zane could be a GREAT LEX...That picture of Zane above captures Lex's smugness perfectly. I support that choice 100% if he turns out to be the new Lex.

i would LOVE to see Black Mask as the villain in Bats 3. it would be cool because we haven't seen him in a movie yet, and i damn sure don't want to see Riddler again.

i don't know about Zane playing him, but still. Black Mask is an evil mofugga!!!!! he killed Catwoman's sister's husband, and made her eat his eye balls, lol. thats just mean.

i swear to god i want to hear nothing about josh freakin hartnett.. and Billy Zane could be good at it. he is a better actor than 90% of the whole returns cast. I honestly wouldnt mind seeing Welling as superman, just hope they dont pick a douche like hartnett.
