Is This The Official Run-time For THE DARK KNIGHT RISES?

An Australian cinema chain has posted a synopsis for Christopher Nolan's upcoming Batman threequel, along with (what appears to be) the official run-time. 3 hours? Not quite, have a look..

There have been lots of rumors, speculation and guesses as to the run-time of Christopher Nolan's TDKR. Many fans assumed that it would be at least as long if not longer than the previous movie, but we haven't had anything concrete yet. Now, the Australian Event Cinemas website appear to have revealed the official running time in their synopsis for the movie..

So, 2 hours 40 mins. Just slightly longer than The Dark Knight which clocked in at roughly 2 hours 33 mins. If of course, this is accurate. With the new trailer confirmed to be screening before The Avengers, it's reasonable to assume the run-time info also shipped out to theaters with that. Still, if you read the synopsis below, it seems to be a be a new one - and a made up/paraphrased one at that! They may also be guessing at the run-time, so don't take this as gospel for now. If it is on the level, I'm sure most fans will be very happy with 2 hours 40 mins anyway.

Small update from What Culture regarding that trailer. It seems we will be getting some new character posters along with it. Not surprising, but nice to know. Keep an eye out for em.

We are told that Warner Bros will be kick-starting the final phases of big marketing for the movie and a series of posters will also hit with the trailer. This will likely include character banners of Batman, Catwoman and Bane, with big billboard artwork reveals also likely.

I really hope this is true. Though, this might have just been the length of the rough cut shown a couple of weeks ago, the theatrical cut could be a bit shorter

@DoubleD - haha. ^^ well, me too pal. i did, but then nolan got overrated by no-other-than the nolanites themselves, thus making chris n to the "top". now, that i did not like and expect to see before. now i hate it. really. xD just because of nolan, so i will be watching tdkr on TORRENT dls. ^^ haha

I just don't know who the hell Nolan thinks he is. How dare he make consistently brilliant movies! He should have at least one flop like any other director..that's only fair after all.

I have to admit, the only reason I loved the Dark Knight was that it's a bitchin movie.

When people say that The Dark Knight was only good because of joker, since when is that a bad thing? He is the main freakin villain.
Same thing applies with Thor. It would have sucked without Loki.

The Lord of the Rings movies are over 3 hours and they did not suffer for it.

The son-of-a-bitch knows story structure. TDK was alright but I hope this script goes toe-to-toe with The Prestige.

Its just diversity that people hate. I too am a huge marvel fan. But so many of marvel's films are bland. Captain America(although entertaining and did the character justice) was a bland tasteless movie. TIH was much of the same. Iron Man had flare, but the weight was carried almost solely on RDJ's humor and personality. With BB and TDK, both movies are chock full of interest keeping points. I will admit, there are plotholes and the female leads have been terrible. But they are awesome movies regardless of what any haters say.

I don't think they're guessing. I think WB gave them this rough estimate. I'm still betting 157 minutes.

@Double D - Ive heard there is a scene where Bane is consuming a heroic amount of prescription drugs with an Olsen twin. There in lies the magic.

I enjoy Christopher Nolan's work as much as I enjoy Joss Whedon's (which, by the way, is a LOT), but I have to say, The Dark Knight Rises will beat The Avengers. An epic conclusion to the Dark Knight legend beats the team up of the "Earth's Mightiest Heroes". Just saying. Love both teams, directors, writers, but Batman will always be victorious!

I don't believe in curses and get the feeling that TDKR will be better than TDK. Nolan seems like the type of guy that moves forward, progressively improving with each installment. I understand why some like BB better, but I like the escalation of stakes and scope.

Either way. We'll be treated to yet another CBM in the form of a quality film.

MJPETTY7 - 4/22/2012, 7:50 AM
Also, third movie curse only applies to some movies. Return of The Jedi, Toy Story 3, T3: Rise of the Machines (in my opinion), Indiana Jones 3, Transformers 3, Pirates 3: At World's End, and LOTR: Return of The King were all GREAT movies!!! This will be up there with those, not down there with Spider-Man 3, Superman 3, Batman Forever, and X-Men: Last Stand (which was only bad because Singer jumped ship for Superman Returns, which was even worse!).

MJPETTY7 - 4/22/2012, 7:52 AM
And I'm not saying the Avengers won't be good, it'll be one of the best movies ever, but TDKR will still be better because of what @NeoBaggins said, Nolan progresses forward, not backwards, and we all know that he's not into sequels, so of course he'll make it worth everyone's while.
