NIGHTWING Director Confirms Haly's Circus For The Film - Will We See THAT Scene?

The infamous venue where the final flight of The Flying Graysons took place will play a role in Chris McKay's Nightwing movie. Will there be a flashback to that defining moment in Dick's life?

Pirates of the Caribbean's Brenton Thwaites was recently cast as Dick Grayson for DC Entertainment's live-action Titans web series but there will be a different actor playing the character in the DCEU.  How will the latter's cinematic outing differ from the version Thwaites is portraying online?

There will likely be some overlap but at the very least, it sounds like the film Chris McKay (The Lego Movie) is crafting won't be straying very far from the source material as the director confirmed that Haly's Circus will be featured in some capacity.

During Dick Grayson's formative years, Haly's Circus was a loving home and his life there as a member of the world famous Flying Grayson acrobatic family was all he ever wanted.  But that all came to a halt when their act was sabotaged and all of Dick's family plunged to their death mid-performance.

In some depictions of this moment, a young Bruce Wayne was in attendance during this tragedy.  If such a cameo occurs, will it be Ben Affleck who portrays Bruce or whomever Matt Reeves casts should rumors prove true that his Batman film is set outside of the DCEU?  Stay tune for further details as we await clarification from WB.

So who would be the villian in this?

@CurlyBill - I could see black mask being a good fit for this film.

@CurlyBill - Deathstroke

@CurlyBill - Have it be Deathstroke.

Have the film be about Grayson being his own man. Have scenes with flashback of his days as Robin where he fought Slade as a kid. Have it so Slade would constantly defeat him & Grayson was always saved by Batman.

Have the film with Slave doing something in the present day in Bludhaven. End the film with Nightwing defeating Slade without Batman's help or without being saved by Batman. End the film with Batman making a stop in Bludhaven hearing Slade was in town. Batman didn't intervene because he knew Nightwing could handle him. End it with Batman hearing Nightwing defeating Slade & telling Nightwing good work

@Spider2YBanana - great choice with his connection with the circus. But he would have to be hired by someone don't think it could just be him.

That would be really cool!
I wonder if the main villain will be tied to that incident?
Cause in the comics, they always played a lot with that part of his origin.
Or even in the tas.

Haly's Circus For The Film - Will We See THAT Scene?

.....

I'm really confused by this heading because I mean what else would Haly imply? Even if there's a scene in present, it would showcase a flashback to THAT scene

Why go for the same character (in titans). It is not like there is a shortage of robins in dc.

Why is THAT scene, makes it sound really controversial

@Kevwebsz - Do you think many people know the whole thing? That Haly paid Zucco to kill Dick's parents because the Court of Owls wanted to raise him as their main Talon? I'm sure not many people even know who Tony and Sonia Zucco are. Not saying you don't, just saying this accident has quite a backstory to it. More than meets the eye!

@Asturgis - I'd honestly rather leave out the whole Court of Owls thing. I like the more grounded "Just a couple of thugs trying to get even", even if it means ruining this kid's future aspect.

@JamesPunn - Oh no, I completely agree, but I mean there is more to it than just "His parents died in an accident, we all know that". There's an interesting story behind it.

@Kevwebsz - The only former Gossip Girl actor I'd accept at this point would have been Sebastian Stan.

Sadly, he's busy doing a bunch of indie flicks these days.

@Philip - He did this really great indie flick a few years ago where he was an amnesiac war vet who lost his arm. It was all about him coming to terms with the present while one of his old war buddies tried to help him remember his old life. It was pretty awesome.

Deathstroke needs to be the villian since the Nightwing movie will be a pure action movie.

If Nightwing is set in the DCEU, which all indications are that it is, then it should be Ben, unless Matt's Batman turns out to be a recast and is also part of the DCEU. Having a Bruce Wayne that's not from the DCEU in a movie that is in the DCEU would be asinine. Furthermore, my support of an older seasoned Batman in the DCEU has always review loved around the fact that it allows for his rich history to already exist and for his Bat-Family to exist as well. Hence why Nightwing movie and the Batgirl movies currently under development. Batman's my #1, but truth be told, Matt's movies (should they end up being a trilogy) should not be set outside of the current DCEU. Ben wasn't my first choice, it was Josh Brolin, and I'm not a fan of recasting. But a recast would be better than multiple Batman movies coming out at the same time set in different universes. All that will do is further saturate the comic book movie market and confuse the general audience.

I'd enjoy seeing this movie having the underground mob going to war with each other. If they go in that direction you could see Penguin, Black Mask and Rupert Thorne wanting to go into an all out war. Seeing how Dick can stop the war would be fun to watch.

@BlindWedjat - same. He can easily come off as this semi arrogant tool, which he kind of was, but the show really handled the tragedy of the character well.

As did BTAS
