No Sequel to The Dark Knight? Ever?

No Sequel to The Dark Knight? Ever?

Bruce Wayne's noble butler doesn't see Nolan's Batman sequel happening any time soon...

In a short interview with the British magazine Shortlist, Michael Caine ('Alfred' to Bat-fans) was asked about his involvement in a future Nolan-helmed Batman movie. He said:

"As for the future... if they ever make another Batman I will be in, I will be the butler..."

I guess that means he'll be setting time aside in his schedule for the role. . . or maybe not?

He went on:

"But I don't know if they are ever going to make another Batman. If they do it won't be for quite a while."

Obviously I hope it's going to happen, as do most people probably.

I take Caine's remarks about Batman with a grain of salt these days, after the whole rumor about Depp and Hoffman turning out false.

Regardless, hopefully we get another amazing Bats movie out of Nolan.

(BTW, first)

Meh, I'm not to concerned, after all the money tdk made there's going to be another batman film. Whether or not nolan directs it is up to speculation, but there will be one in the near future no doubt about it.

All he said was that the next Batman will not be for a long time. That doesn't mean there wont be a sequel at all.

@dylan thats exactly why Nolans taking so long, because hes not Michael Bay, unlike Bay he actually gives thought into making a good movie instead of a cgi filled crap fest with no brain.

Ahh Sir Michael. What a mad egg! He's probably filmed the damn movie already! He loves to [frick] with the public.

I hope Nolan makes it, finish his trilogy. Then, if he decided that he still doesn't want to bring bats into the DCU proper, piss off!

Nolan or not, there will be another movie. They need to get going on it. I don't want a rushed movie but I don't want to wait 5 years either. There are plenty of good scripts that any monkey with a camera could make into a great movie.

I really want to see another one, but I'd rather them not do one than to waste my money on something half-assed. The Dark Knight was a great piece of film that got people thinking seriously about CBM's.

What about Batman Beyond ? Plenty of Potential with
Matt Bomer and Michael Keaton. If Nolan don't want to move on. Before Batman Begins they also had a script for Batman Beyond also, but scripts are written all the time.

It'll happen with or without Nolan. They'll turn the screws on Nolan. They know the fans are on to the fact that it was largely due to him that Batman was so successful. But I'd lay money down that they would get greedy enough to push ahead without him.

A Batman Beyond movie would kick so much ass, if done by the right people of course.

BTW, regarding your pick of Bomer as Terry, he looks the part, but what's his acting like?

Also, Kevin Conroy for Old Brucey :) But Keaton would still own.

Kevin Conroy, Tyler? (wagging head)

Matt Bomer is on White Collar it's a usa tv series. Think of the potential, and they wouldn't come close to Nolan's batman world he created either. Just imagine the posters
would see.

Yes, Kevin Conroy. The guy who has owned the role every time he's called upon. The guy that voiced Old Bruce in the cartoon. He's my favorite Batman ever, I like him even more than Keaton.

@SHH: Great idea about Batman Beyond. It was a great show that got lost in the shadow of TAS, which upped it to amazing.

@Phinehas: Kevin Conroy is better than Christian Bale in the role. At least he doesn't sound like he has a flemmy chest cold as Batman.

Bruce Wayne brought his body to the peak of perfection. Anybody that maintained a build throughout their life would still show it when they're old. Even with make-up to age him, Conroy wouldn't look the part. He's too lanky.

Upupandaway, this has nothing to do with Conroy's acting. It has to do with Tyler casting every voice actor from the Timm universe for a live action role. LOL

I hope we get another Batman movie ASAP especially if it's in 2011 or 2012 - what a great couple of years for CBM's that is already...a Batman movie directed by Nolan would make it even better! :D

It's funny that Caine seems to be the only one talking about it at all. I guess when you get to be his age, with his long history in film, you just ignore the "gag rules" the studios put on you.

They are based on comic books and being done wrong, and that is what he is talkin about. Am i right or wrong? It was his editoral, story call it what u want. U don't need to insult comic book readers at a comic book web-site who hate bad movies. Watchmen is the only one that was done by the book.

@ brazilianbatman

multi never made fun of anyone in his article. its called an "EDITORIAL". you clearly don't know what that means so let me spell it out. an editorial is an article thats only the OPINION of the person writing it. if multi said something in his article that people don't agree with, it ISN'T making fun of said person. its a different opinion, THAT IS ALL! i didn't agree with multi's article either, at least not most of it. but the difference is, i didn't start talking shit. i posted responses that showed MY point of view, rather than just talking noise. thats how you get respect, not bad mouthing people for having a different opinion.

YOU are the one that came in here and bad mouthed everyone on the site by making fun us for reading comic books. like multi said, you're on a comic book related website. how [frick]ing retarded are you?

and oh yeah, maybe you should go pick up a comic, maybe then your thoughts on COMIC BOOK RELATED MOVIES would mean a damn to people.
SHHH
SHHH - 11/12/2009, 9:23 PM
Watchmen is not for eveyone, and that is the differnce between comic fans and movie fans.

now that thats over, i think we've seen the last of nolans batman films. i hate to say that, but i think its the truth. where exactly do you go from here?? you can't replace a director of a series and move on from there, it will not be the same. it won't have the same feel, tone, or emotion. look at X-3, batman forever and batman and robin.

nothing will be able to match TDK. yeah, more batman movies will be made eventually, but more than likely not by nolan. which sucks
