Sequel to The Dark Knight will Happen With or Without Nolan

WB will decide the status of a sequel to The Dark Knight in January 2010.

A longtime Batman-on-film.com source has revealed that there will be official Batman 3 news from both Chris Nolan and Warner Bros come January.

According to the reliable source, the longer it takes plans to be solidify for the sequel, the less likely Nolan would return.

It seems that Warner's will use the marketing from Nolan's latest film Inception to spark interest in the latest Batman installment.

The source also reveals a tidbit that Nolan's fans have been have fearing - "There’s going to be a BATMAN 3 with or without Nolan. And although they’re operating under the assumption that he will return, they do have their ducks in a row -- just in case.

@ LEEE: I think your forgetting how significant his contribution CBMs really is. The impact of TDK, it's numbers, it's acclaim... it's almost universally loved.

For a comic book movie that's huge. With TDK cbms took a giant leap forward. To proceed without him seems extremely risky

DarthMulder----If the man can stick his finger in a glass of water and pull it out to leave a finger sized void in the water, he is irreplacable.
Batman has been loved for over 60 years in the comics because there are plenty of writers that can do his story justice.The same can be said about movie directors.
I like Nolans movies, but if he doesn't want to do more someone else will step up and do just as well, Allbeit different.

@ LEEE777 I don't blame you or anybody else for being positive about a Nolanless Batman. I am glad you feel that way.
But I just can't at this point... Nolan's Batman is my favorite by far. And most of you guys like Burton's better. It's just a matter of taste

SHHH, Bale is under contract for three films. If he doesn't return it would be a breech of contract, and would be susceptible to lawsuit. Or, WB may release him to reboot the franchise to bring it under one DC Universe umbrella.

PHINES @ Lmao??? They wont reboot it, without NOLAN, they have to finish the story, even if NOLAN doesn't come back, they cant reboot it, no way in hell, TDK isn't a full story an has to carry on lol!

LEEE----- If the powers that be chose to use Deathstroke they would need no other villain. He is one captivating character. I don't know why I haven't thought of him before, but he is the perfect villain for any Batman movie.

Why shouldn't Nolan do another batman film? His two movies were the best things to happen to batman in film, in a long time. Other than personal loss (R.I.P Heath), which i completely understand, I think that Nolan would make a good third movie. As @Weapon420 stated, do we really need another batman forever? Why cut off Nolan after his second batman film. I'm not sure about everyone else, but I certainly felt that TDK left a door open for a third Nolan/Batman film. Besides, If Nolan walks, then I'm sure that Bale will walk, and I've already stressed about my hatred of recasting. I know that quite a bit of people don't like Bale as batman, but for continuity's sake, He should stay. Bale is a really good actor, and I feel that he truly captured batman (except for the Rorschach voice). I don't think that WB would just toss aside the man that brought them over a billion dollars last year. If it is all up to Nolan, then I really hope he returns.

I say either with Nolan or just plain end it with TDK. The sad fact is as good as they are the Nolan Batman movies have now become redundent as they don't fit in with the greater DC film universe that is being established making the current franchise a narative a dead end.

It may be best to let the franchise die if Nolan won't or can't return. If that happens DC/WB needs to refocus on their other characters films like the Flash, WonderWoman, and Green Arrow, and of course the Superman reboot. Let Batman lay a while and bring out the new fully integrated DCU film version in the Justice League movie. The return of Batman may be a selling point for that film on its own.

I'm ready for the more mature seasoned hero and Detective Batman that we've really never seen on the big screen yet.

I voted for Nolan to step down. As much as i loved his two films, for me it's always been "shit or get the [frick] off the pot!!!" so he's obviously not that psyched for a third act. Bale is stale. So i say go towards "the light", Hal Jordan's light which leads to JLA!!!

McTeigue did V, he can do Batman!!! Just give Superman to Abrams and we got ourselves a JLA!!! Get Routh back behind the S and give the cowl to Cavil!!!

Woah... did i just single handedly solve WB's dilema??? :P
