THE BATMAN: Ben Affleck's Movie Was Set To Feature Deathstroke "Cleaning House" By Killing Bat-Family Members

Justice Con took place yesterday, and Zack Snyder's Justice League star Joe Manganiello was on hand to share some new details about Ben Affleck's plans for The Batman.

The Bruce Wayne actor penned a screenplay alongside comic book writer Geoff Johns, and after it was recently revealed that the final act featured Batman and Batgirl battling Deathstroke after Slade Wilson systematically destroyed the billionaire's life, it sounds like things would have gotten pretty bloody.

"Some of the regular Batman characters that show up in the films were not going to make it through," Manganiello teased. "It would have been a cleaning house in a lot of ways."

The actor also dropped a few hints about the Deathstroke movie which never became a reality, sharing some insight into what his version of the spinoff looked like.

"It involved Adeline [Kane], the kids, who were going to be young, Wintergreen, Talia [al Ghul]," he revealed. "In my script, there was an origin story for the sword and there were League of Shadows ties and things like that."

"It was more of a Tom Clancy ripped from the headlines sort of story, or even like a Bourne Identity where it was going to be really grounded, and political with military drama as far as what it would take to go from devoting his life to his country for this life he believed in to, you know, having the rug pulled out from underneath him and being stabbed in the back and not knowing who to trust."

That sounds pretty cool, and after seeing Deathstroke push Batman to his limits (likely killing characters like Alfred Pennyworth and perhaps even Commissioner Jim Gordon), it would have been interesting to go back and find out why he was the way he was, and the reason he hated the Dark Knight so much.

I always wanted JL 2 and 3 but The Batman was the biggest loss for me with the Snyderverse falling apart. I get why it happened and im glad Ben is doing better but coming out of BvS I wanted to see Batfleck and then eventually a Knightmare movie the most

You know I remember reading somewhere here that Brenton Thwaites (who plays Dick Grayson on the Titans tv show) was originally going to play Tim Drake in the Batfleck movie, so I wouldn't be suprised if that movie did end up happening, mah boi would've most likely been killed off unceremoniously by Deathstroke like so many others in the Snyderverse; which makes me say once again when I hear WB higher-up says that the Snyderverse is done:

@Superspecialawesomeguy - Seeing him play Tim Drake would've been awesome, but I think we dodged a bullet. I don't wanna see Tim die for Bruce's man pain.

@Superspecialawesomeguy - Actually, that was Ryan Potter, the actor who plays Beast Boy, who was lobbying to play Tim Drake in The Batman before he was cast in Titans.

Amazing, the vision for this universe was to kill of the characters before even establishing the universe.

@RageDriver2401 - That...sums up pretty much everything actually

Killing characters before we got to know them. Snyder, as much as I enjoy him, just thinks he smarter than he really is.

Cool, I guess? I hope the movie spent some time establishing some connection to those characters, because otherwise I really couldn't care.

Rather just have Deathstroke alienating the Batfamily from Batman even more, only at the end to find out that's impossible. And then Batman and co take down Slade.

Even had Talia???
Kinda reminds me of Priest's run.

Don't actually like the killing bit tho, lol.
Especially considering that...what? Dick was already dead? C'mon man...

Glad it didn’t get made then. It might be cool as some elseworlds story, but Snyder killing these characters in what would’ve been the main DCEU before we even get to know them is really wasteful and disrespectful to the fans.

So, he would just be killing Alfred, then?
Dick was killed before we ever met him.

Well, thank frack this ain't happening. I dearly want to see a Bat-family movie in the prime, with Batman, Batgirl, Nightwing and Robin III, but not if they're just going to be fodder for the villain to kill.

Whatever WB exec looked at the Dark Knight trilogy and thought we should do that, but up to 11 and do the complete opposite of Marvel needs to have their head read.

Lets just kill a ton of important Batman characters before we've even gotten a chance to know them, Doesn't that sound like such a great idea?

Boy do I miss Chris Nolan.

It was the only Batman movie he was getting so of course everyone is dying. Batman dies two movies later.
