It's been a busy year for Jeffrey Wright. What If...? just wrapped up on Disney+, and the actor has just finished doing the rounds to promote No Time to Die. We're bound to see more of his take on Detective Jim Gordon in The Batman when that new trailer is released during DC FanDome next weekend, and the actor recently spoke about his role and working with Robert Pattinson.
Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Wright shared some insight into what we can expect from Pattinson's Caped Crusader. "Robert is gonna do his thing, and we were working within a Matt Reeves vision, so you know, Robert is doing what Robert does and it's gonna be pretty badass I think."
"I loved working with him, I love his take and his energy and the way that he kind of brought different levels to different parts of the story," Wright added. "And we work off of one another."
"I just tried to give him Gordon things, and he did his Batman thing," the actor concluded.
We've seen the dynamic between Batman and Jim Gordon explored so many times on screen that it's going to be very interesting to see what, if anything, Reeves can do differently. The movie is set in the Dark Knight's second year as a vigilante in Gotham City, and as Gordon is just a detective at this point, perhaps we'll see more of their relationship in its earliest stages.
The Batman stars Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Barry Keoghan, Jayme Lawson, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
The movie is set to be released exclusively in theaters on March 4, 2022.
