The Dark Knight Rises is truly a milestone in the comic book movie industry. The movie was very well plot out with witty lines and great action sequences. With the release of Marvel's The Avengers in May the movie had very high expectations following the highest grossing superhero film of all time. Christopher Nolan however had given fans exactly what they were waiting all four years for, the superhero film to define the industry. Avengers had a good plot, witty dialogue, and great action scenes leaving us all wanting for more. However TDKR had the exact same things and more while giving us the audience a more mature view of superheroes. The beginning was a little slow even I'll admit that but it picks up very quickly and keeps the movie going for the next two and a half hours. TDKR was not quite as well done as TDK but still it left me speechless with the ending being surprising, spellbinding, and incredible. Bottom line The Dark Knight Rises is the goodbye to a series that defined the way people view Batman and maybe all superheroes.

Loved the movie. Think it's the best of the trilogy.

This was a pretty shitty review in all honesty. You merely state things without dissecting them. For being a 'milestone' as you suggest, you don't really have a hell of a lot to say about it.

More details in your review. Either from a fan standpoint or a filmmaking standpoint.

Avengers' plot never left me saying "what the hell? that doesn't make any logical sense."
TDKR had me saying that EVERY...FIVE....MINUTES.
Big loud music and cool special effects doesn't excuse sloppy writing.
I was fully expecting Batman to provide more heart than Avengers. But it didn't, not even close.
Whedon made a nonsensical story relatable. Nolan didn't seem to even bother with consistent plotting. He plopped in Catwoman, he plopped in incoherent dialogue from Bane, he plopped in Matthew Modine in maybe the most irrelevant role of the year...and just kinda hoped that the score would distract people from how nothing gelled together.
Well i noticed. And heaps of other people did, no matter how well it was rated or how many fans loved it. It was just...off. I dunno.
It SHOULD have toppled Avengers with its heart. But in my mind, it just didn't. Stark and co for the win, unfortunately.

There was nothing nonsensical about The Avengers. It was too simplistic to be nonsensical. Guy is pissed off and wants world domination. Guy enlists alien army to acheive said domination. Various heroes for various reasons find they have a common goal and work together to stop invasion. The world's armies for some reason feel no need to mobilize (OK there was one plot hole).

TDKR might have been more intricate but it was psuedo-intelligent storytelling. I was far more entertained by Avengers and this is coming from someone who will always take story over spectacle. Avengers was just more enjoyable.

@xcrementus

I understand what you're saying, but you have to realize it has been 8 years since TDK so I'm guessing all those plot holes and non factor characters came in around that time. Maybe Nolan will put out a publication explaining of what all happened in that 8 years (I doubt it). Because honestly I think he wants people to use their imaginations, like with the whole JGL, Robin scene. But who knows maybe they will make a JGL movie, I mean he is a good actor, and The Batman Trilogy is making crazy money and is still going. And who doesn't like to make money that's "crazy" haha... But seriously A JGL MOVIE FTW!!!!!
