Tom Hardy Not Playing Hugo Strange In The Dark Knight Rises After All?

A "solid source" has apparently revealed that despite recent rumours, the British actor will NOT play the villainous Doctor Hugo Strange in Christopher Nolan's third Batman movie...

Christopher Nolan has already revealed that neither The Riddler or Mr. Freeze will be in The Dark Knight Rises and despite recent internet rumours indicating that the movie is to be based on the graphic novel "Prey" with Doctor Hugo Strange as the main villain. With Tom Hardy the only actor revealed to be a part of the cast so far, many believed that that would be the role he'd be playing. Apparently not. Here is an excerpt from the report over at Batman-On-Film:

"So do I, but I can't tell you that...because I don't know."

However, I can tell you who he is NOT playing: Hugo Strange."

"This comes to me via a very solid source, so you can at least start heading to the bank with it. Who IS Hardy going to play? We'll know in early 2011...or so I hear."

What do you guys think? There was a mixed reaction to the rumour that Hugo Strange would be the villain in the upcoming movie, with many hoping for a better known character. We all know how bogus these inside sources can be (just look at that "leaked script" I posted information about a few days ago!) so I'll leave it up to you to share your thoughts on this news in the usual place! For now though, I suggest taking this news with a big 'ol pinch of salt.

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 20, 2012!
