The Batman takes place during "Year Two" of Bruce Wayne's vigilante career, meaning we find the World's Greatest Detective at a time where he's only just beginning to cement himself as Gotham City's Caped Crusader. However, the billionaire will seemingly have another secret identity in Matt Reeves' DC Comics adaptation: "The Drifter."
A new McFarlane Toys action figure reveals a closer look at Bruce's disguise, while a description (via Entertainment Earth) explains that "In the guise of The Drifter, Bruce Wayne Is able to infiltrate the crowds of Gotham City at ground-level without revealing his true identity."
An accessory will be available in the form of Bruce's motorbike, which is said to be "a modified Cafe racer for optimum speed with minimal flare." This persona as "The Drifter" is an interesting direction to take Bruce in, but comic book fans will be used to the hero going undercover (as Matches Malone, for example). What Batman uses this disguise for in the movie remains to be seen.
Not a huge amount has been revealed about The Batman, but we know Bruce has retreated to Wayne Manor and left the public eye when the movie begins. As a result, he's not yet the billionaire playboy who distracts the public from his nighttime activities as Batman, though we're expecting that evolution to take place over the course of Reeves' movie/trilogy.
The Batman is set to be released in theaters on March 4.
