THE BATMAN Credit Sheet Appears To Confirm Barry Keoghan's Role - SPOILERS THE BATMAN Credit Sheet Appears To Confirm Barry Keoghan's Role - SPOILERS

As rumors persist that Eternals actor Barry Keoghan is actually playing The Joker in Matt Reeves' The Batman, we now appear to have confirmation of his actual role. Spoilers follow...

A credit sheet for The Batman has found its way online, and it would appear to lend credence to - if not outright confirm - the persistent rumors that Barry Keoghan will actually be playing a new incarnation of The Joker in Matt Reeves' reboot.

The Eternals actor is listed as "Unseen Arkham Prisoner." This obviously means he won't be playing Gotham City PD officer Stanley Merkel as initially reported, and might just confirm that he has indeed been cast as The Dark Knight's most infamous foe.

Last month, a supposed breakdown of Keoghan's only scene leaked, and the description similarly referred to him as an "unnamed prisoner in Arkham Asylum." There were no overt implications that this individual was The Joker - aside from his laugh, which was said to be "hyena like."

Check out the full cast list below, which also reveals that we will be flashing back to Bruce Wayne's childhood - as well as The Riddler's!

We'll have to wait and see if Keoghan's character really is supposed to be a new take on The Clown Prince of Crime, but it's looking very likely. Presumably, there are tentative plans in place for him to return to the role if a sequel is given the go-ahead.

The Batman hits theaters on March 4, but keep an eye out for social media reactions on February 28.

I kinda hope this film doesn't get a sequel. Not really interested in seeing the Joker star in ANOTHER Batman movie when there are so many other villains and stories they could adapt.

@Nightwing1015 - probably the reason why they are building out the universe via shows also. They are going all the way with this universe, and prob will get fantastical villains with grounded stories

@Nightwing1015 - I hope this is good and gets tons of sequels. Joker included.

So more likely than not he will be a version of Joker.

If so it sounds like he'll be a Joker like in the TellTale Batman game.

I just hope you'd know he is around, but you don't have the Joker being the villain until the third movie.

@BlackIceJoe - If they adapt Telltale's Joker with the plot point that the Waynes were also criminals...Who would have thought a Tellteale Game could influence a movie so much.

@gastitdk - And serial killer Riddler

@gastitdk - Penguin being referred to as "Oz" might be another sign of Telltale reference. Not to mention all the signs of Thomas Wayne being corrupt/evil.

@FishyZombie @gastitdk

Haven't played these, but IMO the idea of Waynes being criminals is bad. It's "Spider-man making the-man-who-didn't-really-kill-his-uncle die in Spider man 3" kinda bad.

Well at least we know they aren't merging Joaquin's universe with this movie.

Also, how Reeves gonna ground Joker again when its already been done perfectly with Nolan's movies? Just forgo the grounded and give us fantastical villains bud.

@JFerguson - I'm hoping this grounded first movie spring boards into the fantastical elements in the sequels.

kind of hope they make this at least 4 films

First movie is getting a good amount of the well known villains out of the way

You can have your obvious joker focused movie

Then for 2 of them you can adapt characters who either havent been adapted like the court of owls or havent been adapted well, like Mr.Freeze

I know the obvious answer is Joker, but I'll put my two cents also on two face. I mean, it's not Bruce's first year as Batman, so Harvey Dent could have already been disfigured somewhere in the first two years of this Batman's story.

@BlackStar25 - Ikr, there's only a few characters that entertaining and enjoyable to see onscreen (and every version is vastly different from the others), don't know how people could get tired of him. I would gladly watch a version of the Joker from this guy, he was awesome in Eternals.

People on here are saying they don’t want a sequel because we might possibly get the joker again? That’s so wild to me.

Kind of disappointing. It’s high time we see villains we’ve never had in the movies before.
