The Batman is finally taking shape, as writer and director Matt Reeves has now found his Dark Knight in the form of Robert Pattinson. According to
The Hollywood Reporter, the decision did ultimately come down to him and Nicholas Hoult, and both actors met with Reeves a number of weeks ago before being told that they were the finalists.
At this point, salaries, bonuses, and sequel deals were all figured out, and the trade notes that all of this is
"pre-negotiated for the screen test process under the conceit that the role is each actor’s, provided they lift their contingencies (fancy agent talk for passing the tests)."
Only one of them could pass those tests, of course, and that was Pattinson. Now, Reeves has taken to Twitter to further confirm the news by sharing a GIF of the actor along with three bat emojis. Now, we should start getting casting news for the other characters that are set to appear, as production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2020.
