THE BATMAN Set Photos Reveal Gotham City Sets And A Possible First Look At The Batcave Exterior

The Batman is still shooting, and some aerial set photos have revealed what appears to be the exterior of the Batcave, a Gotham City street, and even Oswald Cobblepot's base of operations. Check them out!

Mail Online has shared some photos from the set of The Batman which appear to reveal the entrance to the Batcave. It's an impressive, artificial set with, "a large hole [which] had been built into the side of the set piece so that the crew could film Robert [Pattinson] inside the lair from multiple angles."

It's hard to say whether the plan was for the Batcave to be shot on location somewhere before COVID made that impossible, but it's not remotely hard to imagine how good this will look on screen.

These aren't the only sets under construction, though, as part of Gotham City is also being build. Some of the buildings appear to be burnt out (could that confirm those Firefly rumours?), while an entrance to Gotham Harbour Iceberg Fishing co. was also spotted. Honestly, it's hard to believe that's going to be anything other than the base of operations for this early version of The Penguin!

An ice skating rink has also been spotted, but we're not anticipating that factoring into the plot much. Everything screams classic Gotham City, though, so The Batman is clearly in good hands with Matt Reeves. Unfortunately, thanks to the pandemic, we won't get to see this one until 2022.

If they wanted a bleak destroyed city, why didn't they just film in Detriot?

@Feralwookiee - Cause it's colder than a Witcher's titty?

@Matador - Naw. It's not that cold. Plus, they used Detroit for some scenes in *shudder* BVS.
No American city can beat it in terms of urban decay. It's the perfect stand in for Gotham.

@Feralwookiee - cheaper to shoot in England. We have WB Leavesdon studios and gothic architecture in our cities which is clearly the vibe they are after.

Hope it eventually evolves to look like THE batcave

@BlackBeltJones - yeah i really dont see someone trying to crush this batman with a penny then him turning around and going "yeah im gonna take this to my cave"

@BlackBeltJones - Yeah I think people should accept this isn't going to be the "comic-accraurate" adaptation we've all been waiting for. This seems much more grounded than having a f*cking giant dinasour in the cave.

Movie will probably be great but he doesn't look like Bruce Wayne / Batman.

@bkmeijer - Yeah, I was already impressed with how he established locations with the Apes films, and it looks like he’s continuing that tradition here

The Ice Rink has to be a major set-piece. Guessing the final show down with Penguin.

@BillyBatson1000 - Does the Iceberg Lounge have a rink inside? I can't remember

@L0RDbuckethead - I'm not sure if it's been in different media. Games. TV etc. It just looks so worthy of a major show down.

Matt Reeves is creating the Live Action Gotham that I've been waiting all my life for it seems. His world building so far just looks like he gets "It". Gotham tv show seems to have been the closest to capturing the feel pre Batman. A little bit of Burton and Batman Begins Gotham, splash some comic book elements in there and whoa
