BATMAN V SUPERMAN: Jena Malone Doesn't Deny That 'Robin' Rumor

Course, she doesn't confirm it either; but these days actors are only too happy to quash casting rumors when they get the chance...so can we take her silence to mean that there might be something to all of this female Robin talk? Click on and see what you think.

Okay so this is pretty much some non-news, but what else would you be doing on a Friday night if not speculating on an outlandish casting rumor? Nobody really believed that Jena Malone was actually cast in Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice when she was spotted on set, and when a new hair color gave way to the female Robin talk most of us thought the suggestion was outright laughable. Then, lo and behold THR reported that she would indeed play a role in the film, and then a Detroit news station claimed to have the Robin stuff confirmed by an extra on the set. Nothing has been made official yet of course, but UK E Online's Marc Malkin caught up with the Sucker Punch actress last night at a book launch party and asked her about it outright.

Jena Malone as a female Robin?

"So, are you the new Robin?" I asked.
Malone didn't even blink. She gave me a little wave and slid off to the bar.

Like I said, non-news! But actors frequently use opportunities like this to put rumors to bed, so sometimes silence says a lot. Do you take her refusal to respond as proof that there's something to this female Robin talk? Or was she just really thirsty? Sound off in the usual place.

Damn it! Why can't we have an actual Robin. There's a few good ones to choose from but we get Carrie Kelley. Why man?

MarkCassidy - 10/24/2014, 7:14 PM
Kelly is my favourite Robin. So yeah.

I don't think you can get any evidence from this story to prove she's Robin but it's pretty funny when you think about it. Poor guy couldn't even get a word out of her.

There isn't any evidence..but it is a fact that most actors will quash a rumor when they can, so it's just fun to speculate. Maybe she just didn't want to get into it and thought that was the best response.

I would much rather have Tim Drake as Robin. The movie could pick up with Dick Grayson as Nightwing and Batman still dealing with Jason Todd's death.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a female Robin-and technically we have already seen four males portray Robin on screen-yes, that does include Joseph Gorden Levitts. Plus I would f@ck the Sh#t out of Malone, so I wouldn't mind seeing her on screen, if you know what I mean.

@MisterBatfleck Yeah she looks perfect as The Oracle. They should skip the whole Robin thing and have Nightwing in the film. Makes sense since Batman Apparently is going to be the older and experienced Batman.

If done right and in proportion to the other Robins then all good. ie if Nightwing is noted to be running with the TTs and Tim is maybe looking for the murderer of his Mum and Jason is dead then I won't mind at all.

On another note: there's almost no marketing for Constantine. WTF?!? Maybe all their money is going into FX.

quash 1 (kwsh)
tr.v. quashed, quash·ing, quash·es
To set aside or annul, especially by judicial action.
[Middle English quassen, from Old French casser, quasser, from Medieval Latin quassre, alteration (influenced by quassre, to shatter) of cassre, from Latin cassus, empty, void; see kes- in Indo-European roots.]

quash 2 (kwsh)
tr.v. quashed, quash·ing, quash·es
