Callan Mulvey Addresses His Casting In Zack Snyder's Batman Vs Superman

The 300: Rise Of An Empire and Captain America: The Winter Soldier star opens up about his (as yet undisclosed) role in Batman Vs Superman and the forward march of his burgeoning Hollywood career.

Anyone who has seen 300: Rise Of An Empire would agree that Zack Snyder picked the right guy to carry over from that film to his Batman/Superman film. With Eva Green's performance pretty much blasting the entire male cast off the screen, Callan Mulvey was the only male actor who managed to make a favourable impression.

He's moving on to bigger things now by re-uniting with his 300 producer Zack Snyder for what is to be the biggest film of his career. Mulvey is breaking out at the ripe old age of 39, but is doing it in style starring in two (very well executed) global blockbuster CBM smashes within a month of each other - March's 300: Rise Of An Empire and April's Captian America: The Winter Soldier.

He spoke to the Sydney Confidential about his casting.

On being cast in Batman Vs Superman
Zack is such a visionary, so I know it’s going to be an amazing project. Talent as a director aside, people really love working for Zack and being on his sets, which says it all really.

On re-building his career in Hollywood, after a devasting accident destroyed half of his face in 2003
I have found Hollywood to be filled with many talented, down to earth and creative people. It has been a lot of hard work and dedication. It’s tough in the sense that you have to start over again, do your time, play small roles and prove yourself. I have good friends over here who are doing the same thing, so we almost ride out each others highs and lows together. There is a real camaraderie among the actors I know. I’m very grateful to actors like Nic Bishop, Damian Walshe-Howling and the Hemsworth brothers who made the move before me and had such great advice and support.

I'd also like them to keep that muscle on the body as well, considering how Metallo essentially is a terminator.

Um... you can't exactly say this is great casting on Snyder's part until we know who the [frick] he's actually playing.

If they have him covered in human skin it could be one of those cool moments with either him or Batman where they think he's a normal guy... until he punches them.

If he really is playing Metallo. I hope he does a better job then Malcom McDowell. He so far has to me at least been the best voice of Metallo. I really hope Metallo is a full robot none of the robot with skin on top of him. Just a straight up beast. I personally would like to see the movie have multiple villains. I think it would be great to see Parasite and Metallo destroying the world. If they even wanted to throw in an other villain that being Atomic Skull. That would be cool too. I personally think Batman/Superman is going to need a few villains over just one. Because if you have Batman & Superman teaming up you are going to want to see big fights.

Honestly, I'm losing faith in some of the casting. People can scream Watchmen all they want at me, but a role like Silk Spectre featured a pretty bad actress does not bode well for the Gadot choice and Mulvey... I can't really say. He spent more time in TWS looking pissed off and killing then actually talking I believe.
Klone
Klone - 4/6/2014, 12:43 PM
It would be cool if they keep sowing seeds and building up Brainiac like he was a virus on Zod's Kryptonian technology and he's been infiltrating Earth tech since and the only reason Superman and the military succeeded against Zod was because Brainiac intentionally lowered the defenses of both the World Engine and Black Zero. Why could this be plausible? Here is why:

@Those unfamiliar with Mulvey

WATCH 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE.

He is really good in it. Badass in the fight scenes and compelling in the quiet moments.

Can't fault this casting atleast. Snyder picked a good actor.
