Comedian and fellow geek was a guest on Larry King Now on Monday night, and during his time on the show he was asked about the negative reation towards the highly anticpated film, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. “The louder voices on the internet are always the negative ones,” Hardwick says. “Because anger and hate is a more powerful motivator to action than ‘oh, that sounds nice.’ If I think ‘oh, that sounds nice,’ I’m not going to go to the internet and write that.” When asked about his opinion of Ben Affleck being cast as the Dark Knight, Hardwick said “I think people forget that, before Iron Man came out and started the whole Marvel chain of events, Iron Man was not a character that was at the forefront of comics at the time,” Hardwick said, “and Robert Downey, Jr. was almost unemployable at the time. And everyone was like, ‘What? Iron Man? Are you kidding me?’ And then it came out and it was like ‘Holy crap! Iron Man! Robert Downey, Jr.!’ I love to be surprised by people, and I love to be excited by things.”

eh, I'm getting a little tired of how dismissive people can be of negative reactions.......what, as comic fans we're supposed to say "thank you" for whatever studios create / announce? I don't either extreme is healthy and it's fun to debate and banter with fellow fans.........sometimes comic fans are spot on when something looks sketchy at first glance.....we're not always proven wrong!

Yeah, for a majority of the audience, this film as it stands seems like one huge hail mary (in other words large risk) to them - because of the casting.

I think Eisenberg is going to kill it as Lex. I recently watched The Double, and I think he's got that charm aspect of Luthor down, already. The film also really showed the man's flexibility as an actor as well, to where he can be perceived as extremely vulnerable, yet boldly emotional in a span of 30 seconds.

As for Ben Affleck, he could be phenomenal; as a director he's had to work with actor's to receive their best performance. So, when you team him up with a notoriously collaborative director like Zack Snyder, I have to believe that only positive things can be produced.

As for Gal Gadot, let's just say I'm praying for that one.

Now for some sincerity.

Seeing people I respect making rational comments always brings a smile to my face. :D

Also I remember at Comic-Con last year when Zack Snyder told him to get the f*ck off stage because some shit was going down, and then Chris came back on after the announcement, hyperventilating because he had just came in his pants.

So not true at all. Iron Man was a b-lister. When you talk about a-listers, you're talking about characters who are household names, not top solo characters of a given company. If going by that logic, even you can probably only count Marvel's A-listers on two hands. Before Iron Man 1 and any of the Marvel Studios, of the names you listed, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Hulk were household names. Sure, people knew of Iron Man or Cap or Thor, but most were people who were already fans. Those names did not have a series that was well-received, they didn't push merchandise or action figures, etc. They had niche fan bases. Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Hulk however, everyone knows them. After Avengers, even characters like Black Widow and Hawkeye are reaching a-list.

He sounds like an apologist. Seems that he's under the mistaken impression that having a less than favorable outlook on something is somehow dubious, yet positive anticipation has a halo. Doesn't work that way.

Some ideas just don't tickle some people's fancies, and there needn't be sinister motives underneath that.

It's pretty obvious when people engage in hyperbole and shouldn't be taken seriously; we all know the type. Doesn't mean that everyone who has a contrarian opinion can't be taken seriously.

In 2006, Marvel Studios had zero films under their belt and a convicted felon as the star of a B-List superhero film. They had everything to prove.

In 2014, Warner Brothers is coming off of one of the most profitable and celebrated superhero franchises of all time, with one of the most celebrated actor/directors in the business playing their biggest name. They should have nothing to prove, but yet people are acting like they do.

The fact that WB is even being put into that league by defenders should say all that needs to be said.

Literally every piece of news on this movie has made me more concerned and less excited, with the exception of Ben Affleck being cast (I was meh to begin with, but I'm more or less positive now).

I say this as someone who always wants good movies that do well, regardless of publisher and studio, because no one benefits from movies that are shit for no reason.
