Do We Have Some New Info On Ben Affleck's BATMAN In MAN OF STEEL Sequel?

Daniel Alter, Producer for both Warner Bros and Relativity, sent out a Tweet which may or may not give us an interesting insight into the incarnation of Batman we'll see in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel follow up. He might be taking the piss, but possible SPOILER WARNING just in case.

Here's the Tweet.

Now we already knew that Affleck would be playing an older, more reclusive Batman and it was also rumored that he'd be estranged from his former protege, who has now taken up the Nightwing mantle. But the drones thing is a VERY interesting addition -- if true of course. Alter may have tacked that bit on to stir up the fanboys, or it might just be something he's heard and hasn't confirmed - but assuming that it's on the level, if Bats is using drones it might be why Superman is forced to get involved in his business, eventually leading to their dust-up. It's all speculation of course, but let us know what you think in the usual place.

Yeah..I forgot there's only one definitive Batman and that's who any film incarnation should be based on.

Oh wait...no he's actually hung up the cowl in several comic stories.

Controlling drones? Hmmm, we'll see.

Maybe Nightwing is central at the start and he's out doing all the Batman stuff, while Wayne sits at home controlling the drones.

What am I talking about, I've never read a Batman comic?!

And a now, semi-retired Batman (Affleck in 42 now, will be 44 when movie premieres) is supposed to kick-off his own trilogy AND star in Justice League movies?

Again, short-sighted by WB. They should have cast someone closer to Cavill's age...

Dude!!!!

I am so super stoked for this! Sounds awesome.

Can't wait for billionaire Bruce Wayne to meet the reporter Clark Kent. That will be an interesting scene indeed.

This is a good way to get away from any character portraying Robin!

OK, at the expense of sounding like a ten year old boy, I [frick]ing love Batman. It's such a cool damn character!

I really hope this isn't true. I don't need to see another retired pseudo-Bat like Baleman. Was really hoping to see the man who just plain lives for the mission. [frick]ing hell, Snyder. Don't screw this up.

By the way the last Teen Titans Go episode was so freakin hilarious they were foolin around the Batcave. If you look at the shelf you will see Robin Remains next to a crowbar!!!!!

Not really sure how I feel about this but I'm definitely willing to reserve my judgement until after I've seen the movie. I have alot of confidence in Affleck and Snyder.

Yeah, the drones bit definitely sounds like Kingdom Come. I thought they were going for more of an Urban Legend Batman, where only the cops and villains really know that he's out there. However, all that goes right out the window, though, if he's got drones all over Gotham...

Well, what a hell, at least we will get something different from Nolan's Trilogy.

Maybe, I think the problem is getting a costume on the big screen!

I dont mind that they're going for an older and wiser Batman, but having him semi-retired? It just seems to similar to The Dark Knight Rises; they need to change it up a bit if it's to be a different Batman.

Personally, I'd like Affleck's Batman to be an older wiser hero, who's gone through 1/2 Robins and is so obsessive with his night time activities that he's out cracking skulls as soon as the sun sets. I'm just hoping this film doesn't disappoint, cos as much as I liked Man of Steel and love the premise of this film, all these rumours and the continued use of the word 'weary' to describe Batman isn't really giving me much hope...

I love that story and all but that really doesn't need to happen right now.
