UPDATE: BATMAN v SUPERMAN Set Photo & Video Hint At The Waynes Death Scene

Apparently Zack Snyder ("Man of Steel") and Warner Bros. don't trust audiences to remember Bruce Wayne's tragic backstory, as it seems we're getting another flashback scene of Bruce's parents being murdered. The good news? This time it will be faithful to the comic.

In the comics, Dr. Thomas Wayne and his wife Martha take their son Bruce to go see The Mark of Zorro. This is most likely a reference to the 1920 silent film starring Douglas Fairbanks and not the 1940 film of the same name that starred Tyrone Powers. After the film, the Wayne family exits the theater and are confronted by a petty mugger, who ends up murdering Bruce's parents right in front of him. This tragic event has been showed over and over again in the comics, television shows and movies. Each time it is told, there are slight variations on how it unfolded. Though, it appears based on a new set photo that Batman v Superman will be the first film to add the The Mark of Zorro reference. That's actually an important addition as Bruce's childhood hero was Zorro, and the character is loosely based on elements that can be found in The Mark of Zorro (1920), like a costume to hide his identity and using a cave as a secret hideout.

Excalibur released in 1981, a time when Ben was 10 years old, so his age fits perfectly.

Everything I see is getting me excited!
Glad they're gonna add a flashback to this moment, it's Bruce's main drive for why he is Batman so it's good to catch it up with audiences for his big return in BvS.

Hope they add Vicki Vale! Or at least cameo her.
Maybe a Lois and Vicki meeting?

Snyder already said he wouldn't be retelling Batman's origin because it's been told so many times, so we're probably just going to get a funeral and alley way flashback.

Have to say it... people claim that AOU is a repeat of Avengers Assemble, yet i hear no DC fans complaining about yet another re-telling of the origin of Batman.

Does this have to be done again. I think the public knows about Bruce Wayne's parents. It's starting to be akin to Uncle Ben dying in every Spider-Man. Except this has been done a lot more.

@Scarilian
This could be a flashback which would not be telling the whole origin of batman, this could be just a reminder to bruce why he does what he does, retelling the origin would involve the whole making of the batsuit, going around the world learning things, meeting gordon,etc.

I don't mind seeing his parent death scene again they probably not going focuses on it too long might be a quick flash back not really a big deal to me if they do it.

Lots of people have the honor of saying they were there when the astronauts landed on the moon. If I ever have grandkids, I'm going to proudly tell them that I was there when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice launched into theaters and changed the cinematic landscape for the better! And I'm pretty sure lots of families are going to be having pretty interesting discussions in the household in 2016! This will be a multi-generational event that has been anticipated for the ages!!! #ImReady4BatmanvSuperman #DCFan4Life
