The increase in social media "scoopers" has become a real problem in recent years. While there are those who do have a solid track record, it's obvious that many are making up common sense rumours in the hope of gaining a following and some clout to go along with it.
That's the case for one random Twitter account that's been dropping a series of DCU scoops which, if their 166 followers are any indication, hasn't paid off for them.
However, one did recently catch the attention of DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn.
Claiming the plan is for a new actress to be cast as Harley Quinn after recent reports Margot Robbie will join the cast of Fantastic Four as Sue Storm, it was alleged that her supposed Marvel Studios deal prohibits the actress from returning as The Joker's beau.
While it's somewhat believable (aside from the source), Gunn was having none of it. "Dude, why do you just keep posting lies? Sometimes they’re just stupid made up stuff," he says in the Tweet below. "But other times, making up bullshit like this about people I care about, can be hurtful."
The Suicide Squad director has repeatedly hinted he'll reunite with Robbie in the DCU, likely meaning there are big plans for Harley despite the fact Birds of Prey's box office performance suggested there isn't an appetite for a solo movie revolving around the character.
We'll see what happens, but the actress is perfectly cast as the anti-hero and Gunn might be the one who finally explores her romantic relationship with Poison Ivy in live-action.
What do you think the future holds in store for Harley Quinn?
