According to
The Hollywood Reporter,
John Wick director Chad Stahelski has been enlisted to help out on
Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
The filmmaker will reportedly oversee second unit photography and is set to work alongside current director Cathy Yan. His job will be to design and direct these additional scenes, and it's not uncommon for second unit footage to be helmed by someone else (hence why blockbusters have Second Unit Directors).
He won't be credited for his work and his company, stunt firm 87 Eleven, has actually been working on Birds of Prey from the start.
This isn't a sign that the DC Comics adaptation is in trouble; instead, it sounds like Warner Bros. simply wanted to add a little more bang to the movie and put those action scenes in the capable hands of a director like Stahelski. Now, we can look forward to
Birds of Prey really impressing in terms of its action and stunts, and that's obviously no bad thing.
What do you guys think?
