SUICIDE SQUAD Star Jared Leto Open To Reprising The Role Of The Joker But Will We See Him In BIRDS OF PREY?

In a new interview, Morbius, The Living Vampire star Jared Leto has revealed whether he would be open to returning to the role of The Joker, and seemingly teases a cameo in next year's Birds of Prey...

The chances of Jared Leto returning in The Suicide Squad are somewhere between slim and none given past comments James Gunn has made about the actor, so his future as the Clown Prince of Crime is now very much up in the air. There's been talk of a solo movie for his version of The Joker, but the planned team-up with Harley Quinn has seemingly been scrapped.

Now, Leto has said that "I would definitely play the Joker again. It all depends on the script and the circumstances as it always does." Asked whether he'll appear in the upcoming Birds of Prey, he added: "I don’t think so. You’d have to ask them...Well, we’ll see."

Set photos have shown what appeared to be a stand-in for Leto kicking Harley out of their house before she joins Gotham's Birds of Prey, but whether Warner Bros. will actually get the Oscar-winner back to film close-ups is hard to say, and his response doesn't really clear anything up.

Confirming that he hasn't watched the trailer for Joker ,which stars Joaquin Phoenix, Leto did go on to say that the more superhero movies in theaters, the better. "I mean, five or 10 years ago, I don’t know if we thought that there would be people this excited about going to the movies this weekend," he said referring to Avengers: Endgame

Lose the tattoos and give him a decent script...then he'll have an actual chance.

@LordHarryLatts - tattoos are a minor issue. The script part I agree.

@LordHarryLatts - I always wanted to see what another director could do with Leto's Joker. Not Gunn, though; he hates Leto.

The best joker we'll never see.

Hurts more to know that Brody pursued the role.

His portrayal was good. He was just hamstrung by an awful plot .

His portrayal was excellent, but he didn't have anything to do in the film except talking hype about himself.

Every direction in the movie has hurt him. Like when he was ready to off Common, they literally chose the least meanacing way to do it. Gun? Why not something more brutal and unpleasant? And why hiding him using his bat in the background (flashnack of torturing Harley)? And his introduction was covered by "can't touch this"...

Every decision surrounding him was a disaster.

People are not fair calling him the worst. David ayer and WB are the ones to blame completely.

@Alex35 - Excellent? Wow. I haven't heard that yet about it. But hey, if you liked it, more props to you.

But the "Joker" character he plays is definitely making an appearance in the Birds of Prey film. I wouldn't be surprised though if we never see his face and they just get a stand-in for the role, so they don't have to pay Leto for what would be a small cameo.

And tattoos or not, his Joker was pretty terrible. Both his fault and the filmmmakers. No one is innocent here.

@L0RDbuckethead - how is it his fault? He got the awesome Joker laugh and mannerisms were spot on for the Joker. Do elaborate if your time permits.

@Alex35 - There was just talk of many BTS issues with him both pre- and post-production. He seems very hard to work with. And no I'm not referring to the alleged "presents" he sent to his Suicide Squad castmates.

@BlackBeltJones - I mean, Leto's a great actor. I remember when the cast for suicide squad was announced I was really excited, especially for Leto's joker.... and then THAT photo. Given the right script and direction, I have no doubt he can pull off a great Joker, but I'm glad we're getting phoenix even though that film is seemingly stand alone.

@AbidNaga - he is a great actor but i feel its best to just divorce ourselves from his take. The material failed him and he went all in on it to a degree that, if he returns, it would be hard to sort of disregard what came before. It was SO JARRING.

A fresh start benefits everyone. I know its a part from the DCEU, but Phoenix will kill it.

He's a great actor i'll give him that. With a full redesign and better script i think he'd be great... but, it's DC so that will NEVER HAPPEN.

Also, the new Joker movie looks f*cking awful

Best joker was Ledger and Hamill... by 3000miles

@TyrantBossMedia - true he was only the voice actor, but i could see Hamill actually pulling off that version of the joker in the movies... maybe when he was younger

He’s a talented actor that was given horrible direction.

Matt Reeves could’ve saved his Joker, but I doubt that’ll happen

@DenisVilleneuve - this. But yeah, reeves doesn't seem to be interested in joker for his batman movie. Maybe the sequel, but by then, joker will be recasted.

Richard Burton once wrote of Hamlet, “that every man is his own Hamlet, that Hamlet (assuming that there is the initial talent) is so massive that there is room for all...
He is so illusive that he can be (and has been) played as a homosexual, as a man of action (someone once told me that Olivier’s performance of Hamlet was the best performance of Hotspur he had ever seen), as demoniacal, as one suffering from satyriasis, as a poet, as an intellectual, as a brilliant but tragic comedian and so on through endless permutations of these and many other labels...
no actor has ever been right or perfect as Hamlet, and that everybody has been right and perfect.”

Mostly how I see The Joker. 🤡
Don’t give us The Joker...that’s boring and predictable. Give us YOUR JOKER. ❤️

@IronGenesis - props for burton, but hamlet's shakespeare's character. When he writes a character that someone else butchers ill listen to his opinion on the matter.

Geez, this guy was the worst character actor of all time in this role. Literally there has NEVER been a worse portrayal of any character in any film. Everyone hated him. His scenes were SO BAD that most were deleted from the movie. Imagine how bad those scenes were that they were actually WORSE than his scenes that we DID see in the movie! And he's willing to reprise that role???? This just proves how utterly clueless Leto was, and apparently, still is about his awful performance as "the Joker". What a joke.
