Dwayne Johnson recently took to Instagram to give us a first glimpse of his Black Adam costume, and the actor's producing partner, Dany Garcia, has now further teased what fans can expect.

Talking to Variety, she confirmed that there was no need for padding in the former pro wrestler's first superhero costume, something the pandemic can be partly credited for. "My husband is DJ’s strength and conditioning coach, and they were able to get his physique to the right place with so much time before shooting that," Garcia explained. "There wasn’t a lot of ‘Where are we padding or where are we adding?’ and things like that."

She added: "I’ve seen him in the full costume and let me tell you - it’s a thing!"

That's one heck of a tease, and now production is well underway, a first look could be shared by Johnson at some point in the coming weeks (unless it's being saved for DC FanDome).

Garcia actually shared an update on shooting, noting: "We have all our COVID protocols in place and everything is running really smoothly. A lot of our cast is vaccinated. We have different zones. It adds about 30 percent not only to cost, but to the logistics, but we’ve had no outbreaks."

Declining to confirm how many Black Adam movies are planned, the producer dropped a tease that is sure to get fans excited. "We want to do many. We’re excited about our long-term relationship with DC on this property." That sounds promising, though it's not surprising that Warner Bros. has plans to make Johnson's anti-hero a big part of the DC Extended Universe moving forward.

Black Adam is set to be released in theaters on July 29, 2022.

Well that doesn't come as a surprise. Even before the pandemic he was already jacked, so I've kinda always assumed they wouldn't add padding

@bkmeijer

Cavill was jacked. Affleck looked great in BvS. They didn’t need padding either but they got it anyway.

There is no universe. They can barely cobble together 2-3 good properties at any given time currently.

@The1st - Yeah, that is why the whole power shift talk doesn't make sense to me. They closed the door of continuing what was started years ago, and what was there isn't all that great. Might as well let this be stand alone or make sure its in a rebooted 'universe' or whatever they are doing.

Like there's any space for padding.

Weirdly hyped for this. I love the idea of a Black Adam solo movie setting up his fight with Billy. And introducing the JSA is like a dream come true

Not at all surprising. Looking forward to seeing the Justice Society members costume reveals.

I expect the costume to at least have some muscle definition to it to enhance the look. I'm not very excited at the prospect of Black Adam movies, but I hope the JSA gets a spin-off from this, and the Hawks + Dr Fate get their own spin-offs eventually.

So the Snyderverse is truly dead isn't it? No more fake muscle suits.

Shazam

@regularmovieguy - yeah Shazam was bad also. Superman and Batman in BvS make me laugh even more because Cavill is already ripped and Affleck just looks fat - neither of them needed the extra padding.

The costumes looked dope af...honestly the only superhero it really looked goofy with was Shazam.

Why are they not more concerned with maintaining a traditional franchise? As much as it pains them to admit, Marvel has changed the landscape for superhero movies. We want connective tissue, it's one of the reasons that keeps us coming back for more.

You have no idea how badly I want Flashpoint to nuke the DCEU at this point.

I know some people hated Shazam’s padded suit. I loved it, it made it campy. Something the DCEU has lacked for ages. All we had been getting from that universe was all doom and gloom. The suit was fitting for the direction the movie was going.

People don’t realize how padding in the suits work. It’s not to add muscle but to give the muscle definition. You can throw the Rock in the tightest spandex, but all that definition won’t show because how it stretches over the body. The padding underneath is glued to certain sections of the suit to give definition.

@micvalpro - But does the Rock really need fake definition? I don't think so, lol
