Dwayne Johnson recently took to Instagram to give us a first glimpse of his Black Adam costume, and the actor's producing partner, Dany Garcia, has now further teased what fans can expect.
Talking to Variety, she confirmed that there was no need for padding in the former pro wrestler's first superhero costume, something the pandemic can be partly credited for. "My husband is DJ’s strength and conditioning coach, and they were able to get his physique to the right place with so much time before shooting that," Garcia explained. "There wasn’t a lot of ‘Where are we padding or where are we adding?’ and things like that."
She added: "I’ve seen him in the full costume and let me tell you - it’s a thing!"
That's one heck of a tease, and now production is well underway, a first look could be shared by Johnson at some point in the coming weeks (unless it's being saved for DC FanDome).
Garcia actually shared an update on shooting, noting: "We have all our COVID protocols in place and everything is running really smoothly. A lot of our cast is vaccinated. We have different zones. It adds about 30 percent not only to cost, but to the logistics, but we’ve had no outbreaks."
Declining to confirm how many Black Adam movies are planned, the producer dropped a tease that is sure to get fans excited. "We want to do many. We’re excited about our long-term relationship with DC on this property." That sounds promising, though it's not surprising that Warner Bros. has plans to make Johnson's anti-hero a big part of the DC Extended Universe moving forward.
Black Adam is set to be released in theaters on July 29, 2022.
