BLACK PANTHER Is Expected To Remain King Of The Box Office For Its Third Weekend On Release
If box office estimates hold, Ryan Coogler's Marvel hit has a shot at becoming the second or third highest grossing movie of all time. Hit the jump for the details on Black Panther's theatrical dominance.
Black Panther is projected to keep the top spot at the North American box office this coming weekend, according to Tuesday's forecasts. Variety is reporting that the film could earn as much as $75 million in 4,020 theatres during its third weekend.
The Ryan Coogler-directed film has already become the third-highest grossing MCU movie at the domestic box office. With two R-rated films in Death Wish and Red Sparrow being its biggest competition this weekend, the film should continue its impressive run.
A February release is giving Black Panther a lot of legs, as it looks like the film could keep its spot at the top until the release of A Wrinkle In Time, another Disney production, on March 9.
March features tough weekly competition, as Tomb Raider, Pacific Rim Uprising and Ready Player One open in consecutive weeks.
Black Panther has earned over $411 million domestically to this point, and $316,200,000 in foreign markets.
