We've previously heard that at least one Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spin-off show focusing on General Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje was in the works for Disney+, but a new rumor is now claiming that an animated series is also in development.
We don't have many details, but according to Above the Line's Jeff Sneider on this week's episode of John Rocha's The Hot Mic podcast, the show will be titled The Golden City, and Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler is involved.
Whether that would be as a writer, director or producer (or all three) is unclear.
The Golden City, also known as Birnin Zana, is the capital city of the Kingdom of Wakanda, and has featured in several MCU movies. Since this location is the show's title, we'd assume the story would focus on a large group of characters and the inner workings of the city, but that's pure speculation on our part.
It might be worth noting that an animated project would allow for the return of T'Challa if they decided to tell a story set between the events of the movies. Whether Marvel would want to revisit the character without the late Chadwick Boseman is difficult to say, but this would be the ideal opportunity to do so.
