The New York Comic Con came and went over the last weekend, and for most folks that marks the end of any real big comic book news for the remainder of the year. You know people gather, put on their costumes, bring their kids, many of them are big kids. In comic con there has been a platform for the comic book industry to expose their plans for all of it's entertainment avenues such as books, games, toys, television shows, and movies, especially it's movies casts. That is my favorite part, especially when they throw us a bone and unveil some actor or actress that we didn't previously know about, ah man that's the best ish ever right there! It got me to thinking of how many times I would predict the cast for movies, and sometimes I would be right and sometimes I would look back and say what the hell were you thinking?! Like my Beyonce for Captain Marvel pick. Some people wanted to shoot me on here! Or when Sony and Marvel had the idea of making Spiderman black and I wanted Trevor Jackson to play Miles or Peter, but in my defense I did pick Dylan O'Brien first. Boy did you all share your dislike for that idea. Well I was half way right, because I did say Zendaya should play Mary Jane back then, and that was 2015. Maybe with my predictions I have to be passionate about the character and the story lines for my incredible psychic abilities to shine through LOL! Boy I swear when it comes to my favorite Superhero The Black Panther, I'm untouchable with the cast predictions. I mean you can take me to Vegas baby and bet it all on black! Let's take a look back shall we?
I told you back on 3/25/13 in my article on here 'One Hero To The Next' that Chadwick Boseman should and would be The Black Panther, now I had named a couple guys before him, but after seeing the trailer for '42' I wrote that article! Or how bout the article that I wrote on here 10/20/15 'The Walking Dead Actress That Should Walk Right Into The Marvel Movie Universe' that was about how Danai Gurira would and should be cast as one of the Dora Milaje...FACT! Check this out, in an article that I wrote called ' So This Is T'Challa' 12/9/2015 at 6:44 am in the comment section I wrote Michael B Jordan as Erik Kilmonger!!! Are you getting scared yet? Now people let me assure you that I have no inside connects over at Marvel. The only inside movie connect I have is my homeboy L.T. Hutton, the producer of the Tupac Biopic 'All Eyez on Me' and he doesn't even want to tell me shit! Shit they don't call me Gab for nothing! Just joking. So far I have been off one time when it comes to the Black Panther. I thought Wesley Snipes was going to play King T'Chaka for sure when I found out that Marvel was having secret meetings with him, but he can still wind up being in the film. What if he is Uncle S'yan? Here is one more prediction for the road and you can write this in the books, and you heard it here first from your boy Gab. Me and my wife just went to see 'The Birth of a Nation' and one of the lead female actresses jumped out of the screen to me. First thing I thought was that's Shuri. The actresses name is Aja Naomi King. A super talented young actress who just so happens to be friends *wink* *wink* with the real life King of Wakanda himself. After pictures surfaced of her bringing him to the Premier of 'The Birth of a Nation'. If you don't think they talked about getting an actress like her getting into his movie you are crazy! If Lupita Nyong'o got the role of his love interest, the only spot I can see Aja Naomi King playing is the spot of his little sister. Not a bad place to be being that she plays a major part and becomes the Black Panther eventually... in the comic book anyway. She showed the kind of range and emotion to pull off the feisty Shuri.
In closing I also told you on here last year that Luke Cage would be Marvel's first crack of infusing itself with Urban black culture. Translation, hip hop and street culture. Gangs, guns, etc. etc. CHECK IT!!! Thanks for rocking with me one more time! Signing off...please leave your thoughts and comments in the section below, let's have a conversation...Gab!
