Marvel Studios surprised us all yesterday with the final trailer for Black Widow. The movie is set to be released later this year in theaters and for $29.99 on Disney+'s Premier Access service.
That's a controversial decision with theater owners, but a sign of the way the movie industry is evolving as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic (it's certainly paid off for Warner Bros. and HBO Max if those Godzilla vs. Kong numbers are any indication).
A gallery of official Black Widow images has now been revealed, and while there's nothing major here, this is the first time we're seeing many of these stills in HD or without watermarks from websites.
"In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises," reads the synopsis for the movie. "Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger."
In the movie, Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige; Black Widow - the first big screen story in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - arrives on July 9th.
