James Gunn, who was recently appointed co-head of DC Studios along with Peter Safran, has been sharing images of certain DC Comics characters to social media over the past couple of weeks, leading to speculation that at least some of these heroes and villains might be next to receive the big/small screen treatment.
While this is certainly possible, the filmmaker was more likely to be gauging interest than teasing set plans, and he followed-up by asking his Mastodon followers which character that has yet to appear in the DCU they'd most like to see on screen.
The somewhat surprising result of his poll? Booster Gold!
"Interestingly, Booster was the MOST requested character when I asked people on Mastodon what character they'd most like to see on screen," Tweeted Gunn. "I'm not creating stories by public vote, but I found it fascinating nevertheless"
As the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special director clarifies here, this doesn't mean we'll definitely be seeing a Booster Gold movie or TV show in the near future, but it might be worth noting that a Booster feature from director Greg Berlanti and writer Zack Stenz was in development before seemingly falling off the radar back in 2019.
Now that Gunn is aware of how popular the time-travelling hero is with the DC fanbase, perhaps he'll take another look at the project!
