Currently in post-production, Joe Johnston's
Captain America: The First Avenger film has yet to announce it's composer, presumingly keeping it under wraps. And while that remains, even with the following info,
Badass Digest has revealed that the film may have a song(s) composed from an Oscar winner.
"This morning I was emailing a friend at Marvel about the new poster for Captain America and he let loose an interesting piece of information: Alan Menken is working on music for the movie. Now my guy didn’t know what level Menken was involved, but it’s pretty clear this would be a song (or songs) for the time when Captain America is in the USO."
Some Oscar-winning films with tunes on Menken's resume, include
The Little Mermaid,
Beauty and the Beast,
Pocahontas and most recently
Tangled. If true, this should come as no surprise, as Marvel managed to get Disney songwriter Richard Sherman, writer of several theme park attraction tunes, to scribe the memorable ♫
Make Way For Tomorrow Today♫ tune in
Iron Man 2. And that piece, used during the Stark Expo scenes, was
said to reflect on the musical arrangement of the USO sequences in
Captain America.
Anyhow,
Captain America: The First Avenger hits the big-screen July 22, in 3D, with a teaser expected during the 45th annual Super Bowl, Sunday, February 6, 2011, 6:30pm ET on FOX.
