Anthony Mackie On One Day Playing CAPTAIN AMERICA

Anthony Mackie On One Day Playing CAPTAIN AMERICA

Marvel is shaking thing up on the comic side, particularly with the 'Big 3 Avengers' - (superior)Iron Man, (female)Thor and (black)Captain America. With his comic book counterpart as the new Cap, what does Anthony Mackie think about wielding the vibranium shield one day in the MCU?

At Fandomfest in Louisville, Kentucky, Sam Wilson actor Anthony Mackie was asked about one day taking over the role of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  This question is pertinentnow because over in the actual Marvel Comics, Steve Rogers no longer has the Super Soldier serum coursing through his veins.  And the Bucky Barnes is currently unavailable to fill in for hiw WWII buddy as he is known to do from time to time.  Enter Captain America's other best friend, Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, who has decided that there is a need for Captain America and if no one else will step up, then he's going to answer the call.

When asked if that's somethign that he would like to see happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Anthony Mackie stated, “I don’t know. I mean I’m excited about it. I think if it goes that way in the movies that it would take a long time, because there’s so many evolutions before that. You know, I’m excited to see Sebastian play Cap. I think Sebastian’s a great actor. But I love seeing Chris Evans as Cap, so I feel like they can go any way they want. I’m enjoying my part beside Cap. I’m in no rush to be Cap.”  Mackie is obviously aware of the Captain America comic book cannon and knows that Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes is next in line to takeover the Captain America persona should Chris Evan's Steve Rogers go down.  Still, Mackie says he's game, should Kevin Feige give him the call.  "First up for duty! First up for duty!"

Captain America 3 is currently scheduled to be released on May 6, 2016, where it will go head-to-head with Warner Bros.' Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.  Captain America will next be seen in the MCU in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron, out May 1, 2015.

would rather see winter soldier take over as cap than the falcon.

Mackie is such a humble dude.

I love how he's down for the natural progression of things and is completely satisfied playing Falcon, right now. He even endorsed Sebastian Stan to play Cap. True Geek.

they should make him cap instead of Bucky. Bucky is a million times better as winter soldier.

Mackie would murk the role as Cap! But he's right. Have Sebastain become the new cap after Evans's contract is up. I'm just anticipating on seeing how the mantle will be passed onto Bucky. Will Marvel go out hardcore and give Cap a glorious death? Or will the succumb to a much lighter tone and have Cap move on/retire? My bets on death it'll either be Thanos or Red Skull.

Did he basically just confirm that Sabastian Stan will play Cap

I think Steve and Thanos should be the last one's standing and somehow he kills Thanos but dies in the process.

If Thanos kills Steve it will most likely be reversed when the Infinity Gauntlet changes hands, I'd rather see something similar to the Captain America Reborn stroyline.... but I trust Marvel, TWS was amazing

@AlexanderLykins

True, but I think it would be cool to have Evans return as Cap, even if it's as a mentor or something and I'm sure Evans woudl still be willing to come back for an appearance or cameo

Hum Cap America is strong and all, but how do you expect him to be the last one standing against Thanos and kill him, guys ? Thanos is a force of Nature that even gods and entire alien nationscan't kill. Cap is just an enhanced human. Unless he gets the gauntlet, then I would grant you that.

Wardell also said that Bucky would take up the mantle of Cap in the final act or post credits of CAP 3

If they do that it will be epic, finally some fast paced, well done trilogy. Evans can return in the future too.

I mean it all depends in how they portray Bucky in Cap 3, If they can make us sympathise a lot more with the character, put across more emotion and dynamics and more importantly, the chemistry he has with other characters then sure make him Cap!

Definitely, Mackie is awesome, he bring so much energy and charisma to the screen

I'd be fine with either. I want Cap to be killed by Thanos in Avengers 3.... And either Falcon or Winter Soldier take it up. I'd love it either way. I'm really excited for Cap 3 now, what are they gonna do?

Mackie hasn't confirmed anything, he doesn't know their plans.

Evans does not want to retire. He even did an interview to clarify that after everyone printed that.

Have Buky as Cap first for a little then give the role to Mackie!
