AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Star Anthony Mackie Makes It Clear Why We Aren't Getting Marvel Movie/TV Crossovers

Comic book fans are desperate to see The Avengers meet The Defenders when Infinity War rolls around, but Anthony Mackie has very bluntly explained why it won't be happening per Kevin Feige.

No matter how well received Marvel's small screen offerings have been (Daredevil was hailed as their best adaptation to date), it's become apparent in recent years that the worlds of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Defenders will not collide with that of The Avengers. That's despite the fact they take place within the same Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it can also be blamed on Marvel Television and Marvel Studios being very separate entities that don't work together in a very significant way.

During a recent convention appearance, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War star Anthony Mackie made it clear why these crossovers aren't going to happen. "Different universes, different worlds, different companies, different designs. Kevin Feige is very specific about how he wants the Marvel Universe to be seen in the film world. It wouldn’t work. It wouldn’t work at all."

While Mackie can't speak for Marvel, it very much sounds like he heard this direct from Kevin Feige and, as suspected, it really doesn't sound like the Marvel Studios President is interested in using characters he isn't involved with reimagining for live-action. That means The Defenders and Inhumans are out in the cold, a shame considering the potential they have for many upcoming Marvel movies. This was to be expected, though, and short of some huge surprises, it's unlikely to ever change!

@antmanftw - Different Worlds and Different Universes? That tells me he has never even acknowledged the Netflix shows. Even the promotional posters show Avengers Tower.

And until Kevin Feige makes it official that the Netflix shows are not canon with the MCU. I won't listen to a thing Mackie says.

Kevin Feige is the president of the MCU. Not James Gunn, not Mackie, not The russos, and not Stan Lee.

@jamesdnyc - More like the wholesome nerd in public, but the hot freak in private. The general public barely notices her, but those close to her know how amazing she truly is.

@antmanftw - Everybody keep sain it cant be done. I have very easy solutions for this problems. I cant see why it could´nt be done.

Now I have the feeling they dont want to do it. Feige and co feel a threat some how.
Or the actors just think they are to good for Netflix.

I feel the Netflix U and the MCU belong in the same world and they should interact with eachother. A O Shield did has done it many times with the dude from the world counsil, Nick Fury and Lady Sif and they should continue doing it.

@SonOfAGif - Yeah, I hope Marvel Television flees directly under the Disney Banner when they had enough of Perlmutter So Feige can finally acknowledge the shows..

@SonOfAGif - I think you are kinda missing the point.

He is saying they are in different universes despite the fact that they appear to be connected. They look like they are in the same universe, but he's like "just to be clear, they aren't".

@ALostCause - He might have said that but that's not true. What he is saying is that Feige needs to be in control and since the companies are different and the characters and design isn't approved through Feige, it might as well be a whole different universe that they are in because they aren't crossing over to the big screen.

That being said they ARE still set in the same universe, just that the MCU will never refer to anything that occurs on ABC or Netflix, even though they are free to refer to the MCU bc they set the tone.
