It Sounds Like We WILL See 'The Hulk' In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR; Could The Movie Be An Oscar Favourite?
There have been multiple denials that Bruce Banner/The Hulk will show up in Captain America: Civil War, but it appears as if Anthony Mackie has now confirmed the Jade Giant's presence in the threequel.
It was Robert Downey Jr. who first suggested that Mark Ruffalo will appear in Captain America: Civil War, but several people involved with the movie have since denied that the Green Goliath is going to show up. In fact, it's been made clear that The Hulk is being saved for Thor: Ragnarok, but has Anthony Mackie now spoiled the surprise? Here's what he had to say in a recent interview on Radio 1's "Movies with Ali Plumb" podcast.
"Having seen the movie, it’s Marvel’s best movie so far. And I’m being honest – if a Marvel movie sucks, a movie in the Marvel universe, I’ll tell you it sucked. Winter Soldier and (the first) Iron Man are probably Marvel’s two best movies, and I feel like (Civil War) beats both of those movies. It’s really, really good. It’s because it’s more of an acting movie than an action movie. I feel like the story is very concise and interesting, and you get to see Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good ACTING. And then there’s action in it. I think it might be the first superhero movie that might be up for Best Picture."
Considering the huge number of actors in Captain America: Civil War, it makes very little sense that Mackie would drop Ruffalo's name if he isn't actually going to be in the movie. The Hulk didn't play any sort of role in the Civil War comic book series, but it's perfectly feasible that we could see him unleashed as a secret weapon by one of the teams similar to how that Thor clone was utilised by Iron Man's forces in the comics.
We'll just hav to wait and see, but for now, share your thoughts on this below.
