Following William Hurt's passing, Star Wars and Indiana Jones legend Harrison Ford will take over the role of General "Thunderbolt" Ross in 2024's Captain America: New World Order.
Rumour has it the former Secretary of State is now United States President, a move that might not bode well for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's heroes given his disdain for The Avengers. While Ford has yet to be confirmed for Thunderbolts, the expectation is that he'll reprise the role there...potentially as Red Hulk.
If nothing else, we anticipate Ross "Hulking Out" in the next Captain America movie (especially with The Leader set to return) and, failing that, the long-rumoured World War Hulk project Marvel Studios is developing.
According to a rumour shared by r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers' moderators (which comes to them from "trusted sources"), there's concept art out there showing Ford's Red Hulk wearing attire similar to Marvel Comics' Joe Fixit. That was one of the many personas Bruce Banner took on as The Hulk, with this intelligent grey version of the hero serving as a Las Vegas enforcer.
Said to be for an upcoming movie, we have to believe this means Ross will transform into an intelligent Hulk, with the suit likely the one he wears as President.
How Marvel Studios plans to get the character to this point remains to be seen, but Red Hulk's MCU debut sounds like it could be one of the Multiverse Saga's most exciting story arcs.
It's also noted that, as previously reported, World War Hulk is moving forward as a movie, while The Incredible Hulk star Liv Tyler remains in talks to return as Betty Ross. If her dear old dad is now the President and a Hulk, we'd say a long-overdue reunion with Bruce makes perfect sense.
Captain America: New World Order is set to be released on May 3, 2024, while Thunderbolts follows on July 26, 2024.
