Captain America: TFA Heading Back To England For Reshoots?

Captain America: TFA Heading Back To England For Reshoots?

We all thought the movie had entered post production and was in the can, ready for it's July 22nd release. Not so according to Craveonline..

Craveonline have come across a very interesting piece of info at C2E2. Despite Joe Johnston's Captain America being in post production it seems there will be another trip to the UK for some more shooting before everything is officially in the can..

Recently, we were attending a press event that included several props from Marvel Studios productions, including Captain America’s iconic shield. When asked if this was the same prop that had been shown at the Marvel booth at last year’s Comic Con, we were informed by a staffer that the this shield was different (not a stunt prop) from the one seen at SDCC. The staffer also said that this particular shield was used in the film, and was actually going to be sent back to the UK in two weeks to be used in reshoots.

Now, before anyone starts to panic re-shoots are very common. True that they don't usually happen so close to a movie's release but still, lets not assume anything is up just yet. A studio will often issue details on the specifics and the reasons for the re-shoots anyway.

Yeah, every film ever has reshoots. They'r probably just 'pick-up' shots - shots to help the edit run smoother, like reaction shots and maybe stuff that helps continuity. They won't be whole scenes or anything with any major CGI use. At worst, it would be a new/tweeked ending. No need to worry

Seriously Reshoots are common thing now all the CBM movies have done reshoots nothing to worry about.

Even Thor went through re-shoots as well, but knowing people on this site there's going to be some serious panicking going on.

actually you could be right i remember SLJ said he will film a scene for Cap and Thor. maybe this could be a cameo scene of Nick Fury.

re-shoots are common, the reason they are having them (all movies done/wrapped) is they have seen a rough cut of the film and decided they could add a couple things or make them look different, so they reshoot some things...it's common for Thor, GL, and now Cap..no worries..

This is normal people! Usually it's for minor stuff to fill in blanks not noticed because they may have edited something or need another angle. Reshoots do not mean do overs.

Cap looks tricky to me, the costume has always ventured on Camp, but I give them credit for going all out. We shall see. But Superman looks campy and it seems to work in the movies. Crossing fingers for you Cap fans.

@Darkmatter-

Could it be Loki snatching the cube? Hmmmm...
Or Cap defrosting....

Yes, re shoots are common. But usually they occur when teh movie is being assembled in the edit and they realize that they need a few extra shots. They are rare enough when a movie is so fast approaching it's release date so that COULD mean they are unhappy with the final cut. Just saying!

@grif The Wolfman wasn't Johnston's fault. He was brought onto that project very last minute after the original director backed down, so he had a lot of things to prepare with little time. Besides, Johnston has made more good movies than bad movies anyway.

@CaptainAmerica

WTF u talking about this is not a FOX Studio movie

@grif

u cant really blame him for Wolfman he came in on the last min to direct the movie the other director left over creative control of Wolfman.

It'l be big scenes if the shield is involved, anyway it's better to re-shoot than air what bits are obviously crap, reshoots are a great opportunity to perfectionize a film

Re-shoots ain't bad. Sure, it could impact the release date, but if thats what it takes to increase quality, lets go!

LoudLon
LoudLon - 3/18/2011, 8:10 PM
Nah, it's no big deal. It's not at all unheard of for films to be doing re-shoots as close as two weeks to release. Usually it's little pick-up/2nd unit stuff -- little shots and inserts to tie something together, maybe a CGI effect didn't turn out right so they need to reshoot a background/master shot for it, maybe a stunt didn't play right on screen and needs to be reshot, that kind of thing. It's a pretty common occurrence and by no means does it signify a film is in trouble. That the release date hasn't changed is an indication of this.

Reshoots are pretty standard. I think Thor had some too.

PPl here freaked out about that as well.

they can do all the re-shoots they want but what WE WANT is a TRAILER ASAP !!!
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 3/18/2011, 10:21 PM
Yeah, movies do a kagillion billion reshoots all the time. Matter of fact, every movie does reshoots this close to the release date without a full trailer and it doesn't mean the film is in trouble at all. It's not like they said "Shit, this doesn't look that great, hold off on a trailer and we better go back to England and reshoot these scenes here." It's going to be soooooo awesome.
BIGBMH
BIGBMH - 3/18/2011, 11:05 PM
It's not great news, but at least the reshot scenes will probably be better than what they have. I wonder if this will cause a delay.
