Hayley Atwell Promises ‘Peggy Carter’ Action In CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
While there's talk of Peggy Carter getting her own action-packed short film at Comic-Con, actress Hayley Atwell reveals that she'll certainly have more action in Captain America: The Winter Soldier!
As Marvel officials acknowledged during last night's Iron Man 3 premiere, an action-packed short film surrounding Captain America's main squeeze Peggy Carter, played by actress Hayley Atwell, will apparently debut at San Diego Comic-Con this year. Doting on that in a recent interview with Metro, Atwell also discussed reprising the character in the upcoming sequel to The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She was said to feature in only one flashback scene, but…
“‘I’ve been working with some stunt coordinators – I get three separate fight scenes,’” she says. “‘The training has been really tough because not only are you learning the moves, you’re also learning the power of the punch so it doesn’t look like you have spaghetti arms. On my first day, they said: “It’s going really well but you don’t have to add your own sound effects…”’
“I’m going to [comic book convention] Comic Con in July,’” she says. “‘I’ve never been before, so I said to the film’s producer: “What is it, like 3,000 people?” He said: “No, try 300,000 people.” They get quite obsessive. When we were filming the first one, Chris Evans went over to do a: “Hi, I’m the next Captain America, nice to meet you” thing and two fans who were dressed up ended up fighting over his seat. One of them stabbed the other with a really sharp pencil.’”
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reported that Captain America: The Winter Soldier filming will last a total 80 days, with half of the shoot taking place in L.A before moving to Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, DC. Quoting the film’s supervising location manager, “We’re shooting all over Southern California, from the beaches to the mountains.” Filming has already occurred recently in L.A.’s St. Vincent Medical Center, “the basement of the Sears, Roebuck & Co. building on Olympic Boulevard and the Westfield Topanga Shopping Mall in Canoga Park.” There are also noteworthy rumors The Winter Soldier will explore more of vibranium, the unique metal Cap’s shield’s made of.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” picks up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!
