Sebastian Stan Talks THE WINTER SOLDIER; Has "No Clue" About Suiting Up As Captain America

Sharing his thoughts on The Winter Soldier's fighting style in the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger sequel, Sebastian Stan also comments on whether he's had to drop all of Bucky's characteristic and what he knows about his character possibly taking over the from Chris Evans' Steve Rogers.

Sebastian Stan will reprise the role of Bucky in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but if the comic book arc that the movie is named after is any indication, we'll be seeing a very different take on the character from Sebastian Stan in the sequel. Whether or not The Winter Soldier will still be a victim of brainwashing from the Russians is unknown, but the actor recently told io9 at this year's San Diego Comic-Conthat he won't be completely dropping all of the personality traits we saw in The First Avenger. "In the first movie, without knowing they were going to shoot this movie ,honestly, I thought about this happening. I wanted to show different sides of him where you could potentially look back and see sides of him. "I can see that person coming up this way, if he's being guided." Yes, it was technically a different person, but it's still the same guy. There's got to be something about him you recognize."

As for the fighting style the The Winter Soldier will be using in the movie, it doesn't sound as if we should expect to see him hold anything back when he faces off against his former best friend, Captain America. "It's actually kind of scrappy. The idea was this is the kind of guy who can kill you with a straw. He's precise, he's very specific with what he does. But the idea is that it's messy. He'll use knives… knives were always a big part of the character. There is a lot of knife work in the movie for sure. And overall brutality. He'll kill you with whatever is closest." Talking of Cap, many fans would love to see Stan's Bucky take over the mantle as he did in the comic books a few years back, especially as Chris Evans is only signed up to six movies. What does the actor think of this? "I don't know. It's another storyline that's great, but there are many story lines. I unfortunately have no clue."

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" will pick-up where "Marvel’s The Avengers" left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

I was just speculating the other day if Bucky was going to become the new Captain America. The way they were emphasizing on this "huge shift" in the Marvel Cinematic universe had me thinking if we would see Cap die in this film?

Then again that huge shift could be anything knowing the Marvel Universe!

He's only signed up to do 6 movies, but that's 3 Cap movies and 3 Avengers movies, probably finish those in 2018, after which RDJ will be finished, so will Chris Evans, they might just recast. not many franchises last that long without recasting.

I saw this trailer at con. Luckily winter soldier doenst wear the green golbin mask the whole time. They showed him with his classic long hair and a black stripe of paint going across his eyes. He looked freaking great!!!

I thought it was lame when Bucky became captain america. Steve Rogers IS captain america, that is is moral and whole ideology of life is the traditional American principles and that tenacity and courageousness to want to fight even when he was unable. No no to Bucky as cap

I forgot that Winter Soldier was Cap. for awhile. Perhaps in the MCU once Chris Evans is done, and depending on how they do it, perhaps they'd let Sebastian have a whack at being Cap. for a few movies, either for another trilogy or until they re-cast the Captain America character altogether. By then they could re-cast with a slightly older/classically rugged Cap. i.e. Aaron Eckhart or the like.

I really hope that he doesn't don the new Cap Shield, I never liked that Cap was replaced as a concept, I was glad that it was him as opposed to someone else, but no one will be Cap but Steve Rogers, I really hope they don't ever do that

It's cool to know how winter soldiers fight style will be. He will need extreme precision, skills, weaponry, and that robotic arm to be a match for Steve because the MCU captain america is super powered as opposed to te 616 counter part being just peak human

I think MCU amped up Caps strength a bit because they always say he is peak human but no human being is capable of doing some of the many feats cap has done

Glad he addressed this. Don't know why anyone thought that anyway, Evans still has more movies to do under his contract and this movie has a lot going on as is without there also having to be a changing of mantle.

I do see them having Bucky become Cap as an alternate to recasting when Evans is done. But the soonest I'd expect that to happen is Phase 4.

In the train scene in Capt 1 Bucky uses his shield for a brief moment. I remember saying maybe one day he'll be Capt.

What if Steve(Chris Evans) dies in A2 and Bucky returns as Captain America in A3?

I think that could work and would make A2 the greatest CBM off all time!

Just like Empire it would end in a downfall and is the reason why Episode 5 is the BEST!

Steve is Cap. I liked the story line in Cap's comics with Bucky bein' Cap for a while, but in the movies Cap is still fresh, this will be his third movie. We have Spider man, Superman, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Batman all with several movies, I'd like to see Steve/Cap with several movies before they approached the Bucky America story line (if ever). And if they did do the story, I'd like to see 'em wrap it up in one movie, not several. Maybe have Cap die at the end of one, and back by the end of the next.
Either way, this is lookin' to be one hellava movie, april can' get here soon enough.

Cap is my favorite character, I don't want them to kill him off anytime soon. I'm also kind of hoping Avengers 3 will conclude this saga. They could make some other movies that take place in the same universe but feature different characters, and then after a few years do the whole recast and begin a new saga that is still in the same universe but is a different arc. I don't really want to see every character get continually recast as they plod through avengers films. Just do it in waves.

Yeah as much as I'm excited, I just really wanna see Crossbones already. They've gotten everything else perfect so far, and it's got me pumped.

I do like that Frank Grillo said they're building the character over the film and he eventually becomes Crossbones. Maybe it won't get a reveal until the last half hour like Dent in TDK

I just love that clip from Hot Tub Time Machine, that's all and feel comedy is the true ground. Many actors have range, but fail miserably at comedy so it's always nice to see actors that can do both successfully.
