Toby Jones Teases Return As ‘Arnim Zola’ In CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Keeping mum about how big of role he has in the Marvel sequel, English actor Toby Jones teases that fans should be pleased with the way Arnim Zola returns in Captain America: The Winter Soldier!

While speaking with ComingSoon.net in anticipation of his recent thriller, Berberian Sound Studio, Toby Jones talked a bit about reprising his Captain America: The First Avenger role, Arnim Zola, in Marvel's upcoming sequel, The Winter Soldier. “All I can say about it is that I was pleased to be brought back,” he said. “I thought I might be--because you'd know better than I do--but Zola finds a way to defeat time and you won't be disappointed with the way that's been treated in the film, that's what I would say.” With that said, it's almost safe to assume Zola will appear not only in flashbacks, but also during the present time (likely) in his comic-accurate android-robotic form.

Meanwhile, filming for Captain America: The Winter Soldier is very much underway now in Cleveland, Ohio. And while on set Monday, NBC News caught up with co-director Anthony Russo as he talked about shooting the much-hyped Marvel sequel in his and brother Joe Russo's hometown. “It's going great, couldn't be better,” he said. “Everyone's happy to be here, we're shooting a wonderful scene, downtown Cleveland – perfect. There's a lot of action in the film, and there are several different sequences that we're shooting here. We looked all over the country for a location to shoot this movie, and Cleveland ended up being the right place to do it,” said Russo.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” picks up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

We are going to find out that A.I.M. and it's think tank is funded by HYDRA. MODOK, Red Skull, perhaps Strucker and Zemo and Madame Hydra are in. I'm hoping AIM/HYDRA vs the Avengers in the sequel happens. Feige and Whedon already said we haven't seen the last of Extremis either... some Extremis soldiers,Crossbones,Abomination,MODOK,Red Skull- could be great villains...
really looking forward to Cap 2

I also hope that not too many characters make it from the 1940's to now.

Its a bit tricky for Cap to play the man-out-of-time card when everyone he knows or cares about is still knocking around.

in Cap: TFA they show the blue-print of the full on comic book version so i wonder how much they will deviate from that if at all.

I've said before that the only way to make Zola or MODOK work on the big screen is to forget their comic designs and make them scary as [frick].

LOL, it is funny how (in the comics) so many characters from Cap's past followed him into the present, yet he's the only one referred to as the "man out of time."

At least SOME Marvel movies are honoring the source material...

I swear, if there are any more "twists" in Phase 2, I'mma gonna go apeshit.

I think that the difference between Cap and all the other ones who survived WWII is that for Cap the change was in the blink of an eye, while the other ones got to experience the years pass, be it in a robot suit (Zola) or hibernating between missions (Winter Soldier). That's why Cap is the Man out of Time, because the change was more sudden and jarring for him.

My opinion, of course.

Well there has only been one Cap movie- Zemo popping up in Avengers 2 wouldn't be far fetched

Well considering how twists seem to be in fashion-
I wouldn't put it past Marvel that Baron Zemo turns out to be the one and only Red Skull...complete with a DUN DUN DUN unmasking scene

I'm just wondering if he is linked to AIM in someway similar to the Mandarin.

Maybe Justin Hammer is too?? I thought there was some discussion that Hammer was the US 'chapter' of the Ten Rings.

Might be a nice easy way to form a MOE type faction in Avengers 2?
