Chris Evans Speaks On A Captain America Song Featured In USO Sequences!

During the in-depth interview with USA Weekend, the star of Marvel & Joe Johnston's much-anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger, actor Chris Evans touched on a the melody featured during the "USO" sequences of the film. Foremost, confirming he won't actually be carrying the tune, Evans states:

"There is a Captain America song, but I don’t sing it. Initially in the film, when he becomes Captain America, long story short the serum is destroyed and they can’t reproduce the experiment so I’m the only super soldier there is. The U.S. government won’t allow me to go to war because it’s too risky and they can’t afford to lose me, but they use me as a propaganda tool and they send me on a USO Tour. So there’s a whole Captain America song, and they try to make him a little bit of a celebrity to try and sell bonds. There is a Captain America song, and there was a week of shooting, and I had that song in my head. I couldn’t stop humming it! It was so annoying. But it’s a funny sequence actually."

While we've yet to see the USO suit fully, look for Captain America: The First Avenger in theaters July 22! And if you missed the previous coverage from the interview, check our 'Captain America' section!

i just wanna set the record straight. the USO aspect of this films plot is taken from a graphic novel CAPTAIN AMERICA:THE CHOSEN. in it they put him in the USO for they same reasons Evans mentions above, they turn him into an "Uncle Sam" type character, and he even goes AWOL at times to stop saboteurs.

lol @ WittySupername

Since he starts out with the triangular shield I doubt it'll be the cartoon theme song. But something similar would be cool as hell.

It's the song that Alan Menkin was brought on board to write, so it won't be the 60's theme song. Most likely something along the lines of a George M. Cohan song.

Given the amout of times that the iron man theme plays at the 1st IM movie, Im pretty sure its the old song, i agree w blackwidow,

@Darkmatter I'm right here Douche Bigelow! Lol...is it "Don't Stop Believing" from Journey? lol. Spiderman 3 anyone? Wow. Just when I thought it couldn't be worse. What's going to piss me off is when they make fun of his traditional costume. Blasphemers.

@Darkmatter But seriously dude, I think you defend this one so much just because you like to fight. You're like the "Wolverine" of cbm.com. But you should know...arguing with me is like the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.

I dunno if it's the 60's one seeing as his shield is the badge style at the beginning.

I bet this will be a funny sequence in the film, at first I was very taken a back by this news and part of the movie. But now I think it will be cool. Marvel movies are usually good with humor.

I'll be disappointed if it's not the cartoon song, I'm dying to hear "all those who oppose his shield must yield!"

i can picture a scrawny looking crooner, sporting a woven pork pie hat and swinging around a cane, dancing around a dejected looking (we can assume) Cap. If it's a patriotic Menkin tune sung by a Michael Feinstein type, i could see that song possibly getting stuck in my head for the rest of the day. i'm gonna have to load up my MP3 player to prevent that from happening....
