In an interview with Popeater, Buckley revealed his rarely spoken passion for comic books, including his love of Marvel's star-spangled Avenger. During the conversation, the actor declared his desire to play Steve Rogers in The First Avenger: Captain America.

"Well, hands down I would be Captain America," he said. "Yeah, it's kind of a no contest right there."

However, even if he doesnt get a chance to weild the shield, there are plenty of other comic book characters he'd like to play.

"Having said that, there are so many great books out there, that I'm going to go ahead and just... if Captain America didn't work out, there are a bevy of good choices out there.

Buckley also went on to reveal his envy of Ryan Reynolds who gets to play both Green Lantern and Deadpool, "How selfish is that," laughed Buckley. "He'd better have been chubby and awkward as a kid reading comic books while other kids were riding bikes and being cool, because otherwise that is just way too selfish for a good looking cool kid."

I'd actually be happy if Marvel take notice of this and cast the guy - it sounds like he's really into comic books (and thereby most likely knows about the character) and he most definitely looks the part! :)

Yeah, not a fan Of Renolds playing 3 Hannible King, Dead Pool (both Marvel) and now Green Lantern. It takes something away fromn the character that he's playing. All I saw Was Hanible king in that sh1tty wolverine movie. The guy who was in the Punisher Reboot is now cast in Thor as well :( this shouldn't be the trend because it closes off cross over oprotunities. There should be a one comic book hero per actor rule =D

TYLER: I've seen a couple of episodes with him in (and I've just looked him up on YouTube) and he's a decent enough actor! Whether he could pull of Captain America though, I really have no idea! Hell, I still have no idea whether Chris Hemsworth will be able to pull off Thor, lol! :P

I like his jabs at Ryan Reynolds.

Doesn't mean I support him for the roll though

@ superspiderman: It sounds like a soap opera-ish type series to me- which (and there is a lil bias injected here) leads me to believe that he is barking up the wrong One Tree with this- i could be wrong though

I saw a couple episodes of OTH over the holidays, since I got season 1 for my little sister. It's not really my cup of tea, but it is decently acted. I can't remember who this guy is in the show, but if he's up to par with what I saw, then I'd support him playing the Cap. :)

@LEEE777 Sam would be good if he could hold his bloody accent. He can't though. So he's not right for it. This is the first time I had ever heard of Rob Buckley, so yeah. I dunno if he'd be well enough or not.

Hrm. He's no Eckhart, but he'd be a better bet than Sam Worthington or that Jensen Ackles fag, or any other number of the 20 something pretty boys who everyone fan casts.

MsKyle: LMAO. I was wrong he's tall enough. lol. It says he's 6'2 but he doesn't seem that tall in OTH. Still not my choice though. He's not a bad actor but I can't see him as Captain America.
