@ Leee777 Leo can't be Captain America. He still looks like a boy and he's always going to be small and look better small. He can be skinny little Steve Rogers and then be replaced to the real Cap, but Leo is not a good choice. And I know that Leo is a well renowned actor, but I'm not a fan and I don't think he'll have a believable Cap. Besides, Leo's too busy saving trees instead of beating the crap out of terrorists.

I want my Captain America to be a REAL man. And the movie should pattern Cap after Ultimate Cap.

Hey all, first post. Just my thoughts on the whole cap casting thing.

1. It has to be someone with acting chops (see you later Channing Tatum, Jason Lewis et al) not just for The First Avenger movie but more for the Avengers. Whoever it is will have to share a screen with Downey Jr (who used to wipe the floor with nearly everyone when he only had supporting roles), Sam Jackson (who ain't the best actor but has great star quality and who shouts "all the mutherfu**ing time!!!!") and possibly Edward Norton who is no slouch when it comes to scenery chewing.

2. It will be an established star (think Will Smith, Leo Di Caprio, Matt Damon) this movie will be a tough sell for some parts of the world and someone with box office pizzazz will help with the numbers. Cap ain't all that worldwide, imo here in the u.k he's probably below Spidey, Hulk, now Ironman, Daredevil. He's more in line with Thor here fame wise.

3. Again backing up why it will be an established star No cast announced yet!!! Hasn't this movie been in preproduction for some time already? Even basic things could be affected by the lead. as well as major things like the script. Example: if it's Will Smith (who's my pick)surely you have to allude to a race issue in world war 2 america (I actually think this could make the movie have a potential depth/seriousness that might otherwise be lacking, something execs might consider in the post Dark Knight/Watchmen cbm landscape)?


4. When is this movie out? July 2011? Ahem Thor's out just two months before and is shooting in January!!! Spidey 4's being cast as we type (for a may 2011 date) , they're are even planning a second terrible Wolverine movie at Fox!! The deadlines getting tight so either a lead is announced before mid december or expect the release put back.

Jake McLaughlin is perfect for the role of Cap. He can act and he looks the part. Plus, this guy is a legitimate American Patriot. Served as a dismount infantry S.A.W. gunner during the invasion of Iraq. Was awarded the army commendation medal, combat infantry badge, global war on terrorism service medal, global war on terrorism expeditionary medal, army good conduct medal, and four army achievement medals for his service during Operation Iraqi freedom.
