CAPTAIN MARVEL Scene Description Takes The Starforce Team To Torfa On A Rescue Mission

We know that Carol Danvers will be a card-carrying member of Starforce when Captain Marvel begins and now a new scene description has been revealed which reveals details on a rescue mission by the team...

The first trailer for Captain Marvel should be with us any day now but a new scene description for the movie sheds at least some light on what we should expect from the next Marvel Studios movie. In what used to be a sand quarry in Simi Valley, California, the planet Torfa (which was introduced in the pages of 2014's Captain Marvel #2) has been recreated with blue-streaked sand and huge stone archways.

Carol Danvers is there alongside her fellow Starforce members and the Kree team is reportedly searching for a missing spy. The ground is covered in fog and that means their comms have gone down, something which makes the mission even more difficult, especially as Skrulls might be in the area.

However, when Starforce commander Mar-Vell (well, we're assuming that's who Jude Law is playing...his character's identity still hasn't been officially revealed) finally gives the team the go-ahead, Captain Marvel is the first one through the door because she hates waiting for orders and is always itching for a fight. So, a brief description but one which sounds pretty good, right? Sound off below.

Sounds pretty good. I like what I've heard about Carol's personality so far, but I'm hoping she has a good character arc (Marvel does really well with these anyway) and her quick to action attitude comes across well and she is likable.

I want the trailer already.

Don't get the secrecy unless he's not Mar-Vell. Maybe Captain Glory? An outside chance that he's maybe Genis. Wondering if Carol is being retconned into being Mar-Vell daughter and Law is maybe Yon-Rogg looking out for his friend's kid.

I was pretty sure Law was announced as Mar-Vell the moment he got cast. Did I dream this?

It’s possible that they’re just withholding the Mar-Vell name to keep from confusing Entertainment Weekly readers. “Jude Law plays Captain Marvel... but, you know, not the Captain Marvel on the cover. He’s a different Capetian Marvel. The first one. Not that the female version is less important...”

@Chewtoy - But when Law's casting was announced on "Variety", he was pretended as Doctor Walter Lawson/Mar-Vell right away. Did they change their mind?

@MinoMininni - I have no idea if any of that earlier stuff was official, but as far as I know all of this “unnamed” stuff is from EW... so really it’s just a matter of what they told/cleared the EW writers to report in these “first look” articles.

Explaining who Mar-Vell is might need a better understanding of his relationship to Carol, and if the film is different from the comics then you have to get into spoilers or things get confusing. It might be that, for this initial introduction to the character, they don’t want to get into more of any of that... for now, people just need to know that Jude Law is just her commander, who sees something special in her.

@Chewtoy - Your theory. I like it

@Vigor - Imagine how confusing it would get for the average audience member if people start reporting that “Shazam!” has a Captain Marvel in it as well.

I think Marvel would be more than happy to simply tell people that Brie Larson is the only Captain Marvel they need to concern themselves with for now.
