Remember Ike Perlmutter? Marvel's CEO who Kevin Feige kicked out from involvement of the MCU, probably due to the fact that a casual Google search shows that he's an insane racist and misogynistic penny pincher? Yeah, he donated a million dollars to Donald Trump's campaign. For those who don't know, he's a presidential candidate in the United States. No, he's not a politician, but he is an incredibly racist and egotistical jackass, who one of his campaign points is to basically ban Muslims from entering the U.S, with comparisons to the (also racist) internment of Japanese citizens in the U.S. during WWII (which while it did give us George Takei, was still a pretty huge civil rights violation). Caught up? Okay, good because it founds the backbone to this story.
You may recall way back it was reported that John Ridley's mystery project with Mavel and ABC Studios was an adaptation of Ms. Marvel. Well after long last we just found another big hint that that may be a sign as to the future of that project. G. Willow Wilson, Ms. Marvel's creator, who is a Muslim, expressed her reaction to the fact that the CEO of her company pretty much isn't a big fan of her religion, despite the irony of his company being home to the famous Muslim Marvel hero.
Further on, in a Tumblr post detailing her opinions on the matter, she also further confirmed that this is a business related trip, and not one for pleasure.
Rather fortuitously, I’m down in California on Marvel-related business at the moment, so I had the opportunity to talk all of this over in depth with a bunch of people who have been at the company a long time, and whose opinions I value. But after we talked, I found myself with more questions than answers. Can we separate a CEO from the company he runs, or the company from the creators, or the creators from the art? Should we?
Now, Marvel's only offices in Burbank and California are it's L.A. branch, home to Marvel Studios and Marvel Television. If she's on a business trip there, it's well within reason to assume it's with one of those companies. One might think she's there to supervise Kamala Khan's appearance in Marvel's animated Avengers series, but since those are produced, written, and acted out long before the show comes out, it's highly unlikely she made a business trip across the country to meet up on a series that's about to come out. Could this be the big clue that points to Kamala Khan joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I certainly hope so!
