The Hollywood Reporter confirms that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman is penning the screenplay for a fourth Captain America movie alongside Dalan Musson.
Spellman wrote the first and final episodes of the Disney+ series, while Musson penned last week's penultimate instalment. The trade makes it clear that a director isn't attached to the project yet, and notes that Chris Evans' status is unclear. It has previously been reported that the actor is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though he was quick to deny those claims on social media.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier didn't reveal what happened to Steve Rogers after the events of Avengers: Endgame, so it would definitely be fitting to have him return here.
Now, to get into some SPOILERS for today's episode.
In "One World, One People," John Walker gave up the mantle of Captain America to become U.S. Agent, while Sam Wilson finally decided to wield the shield. As a result, you probably don't need us to tell you that this movie is going to focus on the former Falcon, and if today's finale of The Falcon of The Winter Soldier is any indication, it's going to be titled Captain America and The Winter Soldier.
Some fans were left unsatisfied by the finale and how quickly it wrapped the story up, but this movie can expand on some of those lingering plot threads, while also giving Sam the well-deserved spotlight.
All we ask from Marvel Studios is more Baron Zemo, please...
