CAPTAIN AMERICA 4 Officially In The Works From THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Showrunner Malcolm Spellman

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman is penning the screenplay for a fourth Captain America movie alongside Dalan Musson.

Spellman wrote the first and final episodes of the Disney+ series, while Musson penned last week's penultimate instalment. The trade makes it clear that a director isn't attached to the project yet, and notes that Chris Evans' status is unclear. It has previously been reported that the actor is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though he was quick to deny those claims on social media.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier didn't reveal what happened to Steve Rogers after the events of Avengers: Endgame, so it would definitely be fitting to have him return here.

Now, to get into some SPOILERS for today's episode.

In "One World, One People," John Walker gave up the mantle of Captain America to become U.S. Agent, while Sam Wilson finally decided to wield the shield. As a result, you probably don't need us to tell you that this movie is going to focus on the former Falcon, and if today's finale of The Falcon of The Winter Soldier is any indication, it's going to be titled Captain America and The Winter Soldier

Some fans were left unsatisfied by the finale and how quickly it wrapped the story up, but this movie can expand on some of those lingering plot threads, while also giving Sam the well-deserved spotlight.

All we ask from Marvel Studios is more Baron Zemo, please...

@KingPatel - Completely onboard with Mackie & Stan doing Captain America 4, but would love Evans to return to lead the next big Avengers-level event film eventually

It'll be nice to have another MCU movie with a black lead since we don't know what will happen with T'Challa.

@MCUKnight11 - I agree with h you...except why does it have to be an adapted character. Wouldn't mind a full luke cage movie. We have blade coming out, and miles morales will happen. For some reason, I've always like night thrasher...they should make that one.

I’d be more excited if they had better writers. I mostly enjoyed Sam and Bucky’s arcs. I enjoyed what little of Walker’s arc was actually realized. But everything else? Such a mess.

@DerekLake - same tbh. Hope the director they pick can rly deliver and does not tarnish the legacy of Cap trilogy. Still the best superhero trilogy imo.

@MarDCel - The MCU has always had a rather simplistic sort of presentation of the world (esp. with the World Council, SHIELD and their muddled relationship to the U.S. intelligence community). But this show rather depended on a more credible take on the real world for its plot to make sense, and it just muddles everything having to do with the U.S. government and its international political landscape. Everything is so undefined and vague that it’s hard to really understand what exactly the Flag Smashers are fighting for, or what the GRC is actually trying to do, or how that connects with the U.S. desire for a new Captain America. And a lot of this would have been so easy to get straight that it can only mean that the writers just didn’t care to make their story make sense. And that doesn’t bode well for a film.

@DerekLake - impossible for me to be excited about this unless Spellman brings on a great writer.

@DerekLake - Agreed. I hope Marvel brings Markus and McFeely to write it with Spellman. This is obviously very early days for the development of this movie, so there's time for them to gauge the flaws in the show at least.
