BOOM! Studios, the publisher behind best-selling Eisner Award-winning comic book franchises such as Lumberjanes, Something is Killing the Children, Once & Future, and Mouse Guard, has signed a two-year TV first look deal with Netflix for live action and animated series.

This deal will give the streaming giant access to the largest library of controlled comic book IP outside of Marvel and DC.

"BOOM! characters are innately special, they’re colorful, diverse and varied and their stories have the power to ignite something in all of us,” said Brian Wright, Vice President, Original Series at Netflix. “We can’t wait to bring these stories from the page to the screen to fans in every corner of the world.”

“We generate 20+ new original series a year and are thrilled to partner with a streamer that is as prolific as we are,” added company CEO and Founder Ross Richie. “BOOM!’s unique partnership model benefits creators by positioning them to be packaged with high-end directors, screenwriters, and producers. We’re thrilled to continue our track record of translating our best-selling award-winning library with the best TV talent in the business but now with the undisputed leader of the new streaming era.”

No specific titles are mentioned as being in development, but BOOM! has revealed that it currently has close to 20 movies and TV shows in the works.

Which BOOM! Studios properties would you most like to see adapted for Netflix? Let us know in the comments.

@MutantEquality - I was hoping for Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated show.

I'm not even a fan of the movies or the TV shows, I don't normally even read their comics but I heard good about both of their comics, so I tried their first team up together.

@Kiwiavenger - Sorry, that’s a Hasbro property not a Boom property. Paramount will have a movie coming out soon enough though.

So why has one of the streaming service (or movies studios) tapped all the classic Image titles yet? And if we aren’t going to get more Valiant live action movies (but please more live action movies) then why doesn’t one of the streaming services make an animated Valiant superhero show? Too much good potential out there not being used.

Boom Studios did a decent adaptation of Elric of Melnibone`. I would like to see that done correctly.

Ok netflix, listen, hear me out now....you already bought millarworld comics to make adaptations for like three years ago and we’ve seen NOTHING from that. How about instead of buying more things you can adapt, you adapt things from what you have. Just a thought.
