CBM FIGHT CLUB : How Much Can You Know About Yourself If You've Never Been In A Flame War?

Before you step in this thread, one rule: You do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club. When you step in this thread, who you are in Fight Club is not who you are on ComicBookMovie. Fights, flame wars, etc. will go on as long as they have to.

On this site, we've been raised and acted in ways that define the way we are seen by other users. Well, in here, you are not who you are on ComicBookMovie and who you are on ComicBookMovie is not who you are in Fight Club. With that being said, let me tell you what the CBM Fight Club is.

CBM FIGHT CLUB

I'm pretty sure that any user who knows their way around this site knows what a flame war is. If you don't, then here's your chance to find out. A flame war is when people reach differing opinions over something that is controversial, at least to them, and they go nuts. That's what's gonna go down in this thread's comment section. In Fight Club, you can say anything; start fights, start flame wars, etc; that's what this this place was made for. If your feelings get hurt, then maybe you shouldn't be in the CBM Fight Club. Now, let's get down to the rules.

RULES

1. YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB: This is a stress-relieving center, don't turn it into tomorrow's gossip column.

2. YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB: You get the point.

3. DO NOT MAKE THINGS TOO PERSONAL: I know how some of you sick guys would like to screw someone's day by bringing up a dead relative, or family business, but that's not the direction we're going to steer this Fight Club; you fight and start flame wars to get your feelings out, whether it's about Marvel v. DC, etc.

4. DO NOT HOLD GRUDGES: By this, I mean don't carry your beef with someone on other articles or threads; it could really screw with the economy on the site.

5. DO NOT REPORT ANY USERS: If you report someone in Fight Club, then maybe you shouldn't be in Fight Club.

Now since we got those necessary evils out the way.

Go nuts.

Man of Steel sucks. Like, really sucks. Not "Oh it was an okay movie, nothing special", not "It was a good movie, flawed but still watchable." No. It sucked. From start to finish, it was an awful movie with only a handful of genuinely great moments. That's it. It's a horribly flawed movie that doesn't function as a film, much less a Superman film. Snyder and Goyer fell into the trap of trying to make it a mindless summer blockbuster when it could've and should've been so much more.

The action is numbing and not engaging whatsoever, FAR too much screentime is devoted to both of Clark's father figures, Lois has no credible reason for even being part of the events of the movie, and before Clark puts on the suit, the filmmakers treat him like a petulant, immature child who is incapable of acting like a normal person...even when he's a grown-ass man.

The movie pontificates about "hope", but never actually does anything with that except pay lip-service. It's as unsubtle about making Supes into Space Jesus as a movie could possibly be, the tone doesn't fit the character whatsoever, and the critical lambasting and pop culture shrug of indifference basically seals it as a poorly made, forgettable adaptation of Superman.

Come at me.

I think if we can make this a regular thing where all flame wars stay, and none are allowed on other articles, it could work out. It's obvious that these stupid flame wars won't end, not anytime soon at least, but we can find a way to keep them in one spot. Create a new one every day, and possibly make ones for other flame wars, like Marvel vs DC, Marvel vs Fox, Batman vs every hero he can apparently beat, etc.

Anyone caught debating in a flame war or throwing out flame bait on any other articles should get reported, even if it's not trolling level. Once people start getting banned and ending up in the hall of shame more, they'll wisen up and stop commenting on articles that they wish to cause a flame debate with.

Who am I kidding, this site still wouldn't change, but a man can dream.

The Avengers is possibly the most overrated comic book movie ever. One of the most overrated films of all time (even more so than Avatar). The first half is basically "the heroes coming together" except in the most boring way possible. There are a lot of plot conveniences that NO ONE has the balls to point out. Loki was an idiotic villain, mishandled horribly. And the Tony Stark monologue (we have a hulk) makes NO sense. "Oh, you have the upperhand but you don't. the odds are against you right now. even if you win, you'd have to rule them, which you've been trained since birth to be a leader anyway.

The Justice League can VERY easily beat it, seeing as how Man of Steel already accomplished that.

well, that felt good.

I would literally watch Batman and Robin before The Avengers again. Especially since I can laugh at how bad Batman and Robin is, with Avengers, it's just sad.

@SauronsBane
Anyone who bases the quality of a movie even SLIGHTLY on the source material it was based on as opposed to the film itself isn't adept to review it.
The majority of criticisms regarding Man of Steel from what I've seen all deal with preconceived notions of what the viewers wanted to see, and they then took issue that Snyder didn't deliver their vision for the film, regardless of it's true quality (or what would be as opposed to their biased view).

Saying that it "doesn't work as a Superman movie" disregards what a thorough criticism of a movie should be, which is to judge it on it's own. Because Man of Steel was not a sequel, the first time that we're introduced to the character in the canon (which again, is just Man of Steel at that point) by definition makes it the correct representation, or the only one that matters in that continuity.

Superman vs Batman Dawn of Truff - Will definitely watch this movie when it comes out and have no beef with this movie think it will do great even though theirs a couple of things that do bug me.

- Batman insignia look more like a Bat Bow-tie on his chest. Which is way bigger oh his chest then his own chest.

- Wonder Woman - not looking very wondrous but more like an ehh chick.

- Aquaman - Where his just chalk white away from looking like Lobo but looks like Rob Zombie island bastard child with I wuv heartsies on his right shoulder armor.

- All these actors already portraying these characters on CW but will use other actors to fill those shoes. Because their not good enough for real theater.

- Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor oooohhhhh he look very threatening against the Wonder Twins.

- Perry White better not be wearing that damn big ass ice rock on his ear again!

The only thing great about this movie is Henry Cavill As Superman Ben Affleck as Batman and Jeremy "Scar" Irons as Alfred. Can't wait for this movie to come out whooooo!

LIKEWISE, let me mention that any discussion between myself and another user is not personal, and that I will more often than not get into arguments with users I actually respect the opinion of (like SauronsBane).

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 IS THE WORST COMIC BOOK MOVIE OF ALL TIME

IRON MAN 3 SUCKS!!!

I understand the genius behind the Mandarin twist but for the third Iron Man film, we've had 3 [frick]ing businessmen as the villains. Repetitive much?

Besides the cast and action, MAN OF STEEL DOES SUCK!!!!

SPIDER-MAN 3 IS GOOD!!!

And honestly, PENGUIN IN BATMAN RETURNS IS THE BEST TAKE ON PENGUIN IN ANYTHING BATMAN RELATED!!!!!

Besides Days of Future Past (and Magneto's scenes in First Class), NONE OF THE X-MEN FILMS ARE WORTH YOUR TIME AND AREN'T THAT GOOD!!!!

I made my points.

@TheCardist I agree with you...to an extent. Movies should absolutely be judged on their own merits. But ANY movie that is based on a preexisting material will be judged from that angle too. That's just the way it is, and that's not "wrong", either. LotR is judged on its merits as a movie...and as an adaptation of 3 massive novels. So is Game of Thrones. And Harry Potter. And The Hunger Games. And on and on and on it goes. Comic book movies aren't somehow immune to that type of analysis.

But either way, my complaint about it "doesn't work as a Superman movie" was one line out of 3 paragraphs haha. It wasn't the entire basis of my criticisms by any means. Everything else I talked about was judging it by it's own merits.
