COMICS: DC Gives A Name To The Mysterious "Hooded Lady" From The New 52

Anyone following any of DC's New 52 (and I think we are all reading something from em) will most likely be familiar with the hooded lady in purple who has popped up in every title so far. Now we can officially call her..

Pandora. Yep, like the planet from Avatar. This strange chick has been an ominous and familiar presence in the DCnU since it's launch a few months back, and has led fans to speculate as to what her purpose may be. Obviously she will play a part in tying the various titles and characters together in some way, but short of that DC are keeping schtoom.

'Hillary Clinton' would have been better.

I love the myth of Pandora's box....
And, I love the name.

I hope her powers are related to the myth of Pandora's box...Like, maybe having powers over fear, anger, pain, and even hope?
That would be interesting!

Linking the characters together via her box? Interesting and smutty...

"...steal (sic) from James Cameron?"

Um...he didn't invent the name. Or 'Pandora's Box'.

@tweeeeenkies3- I love Pandora's 'box' too...
which is why I'm now a father, much to my surprise!

This is one of those times I wish I could slap people through the internet.

Like James Cameron ever invented anything...

@headlopper...HAHA! It took me a second to get that one...
But, I understood it in the end! I laughed...I love sexual jokes :P

@nailbiter111...I doubt they took the name from James Cameron.
That name comes from ancient greek mythology.

Interesting character, for the prospects of the comics, but nothing too original in name or presence really.
and @CraptainAmerica- Nailbiter definitely did spell "steal" correctly. Unless you mean that he had the tense incorrect. Hmm...

@tweeeeenkies3 - Sorry. It's just a joke. I'm a born again vigin, so it's all good.

Awww, just one more...

What do you call a skeleton's erection?

Answer: A boner! Hahahahahahahahaha!(...it wasn't THAT funny!)
Sorry again.:)

@headlopper...HAHA!
I thought it was funny...But, I am one weird ass kid. So, I think corny jokes like that are hilarious...

@Headlopper Hahahahahaha good one mate...

This Pandora chick looks like the "easy way out" character. When and IF people get tired of the new 52, this girl is the one who'll revert all to the way it was. At least looks that way.

@BlindLemonShemp - Nice connection. Smart.
Oarsis
Oarsis - 1/3/2012, 4:05 PM
She does seem (and look) like the character to fix it all, if things go bad...

I think the new 52 is an alternate reality...It makes sense, if you think about it.

I think she is the character to fix it all, if things go bad as well...

@headlopper....That's very true!
HavocPrime

@Mentok

Thats exactly what I think she is, a giant 'Oh Shit' button that can be used to turn everything back with as little hassle as possible. Lazy writing.

@RorMachine

James Cameron never made up the name of Pandora. Pandora is from Greek mythology

@nailbiter111

how is it stealing when the name of Pandora is from Greek mythology. u havnt heard of Pandora's Box.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 1/3/2012, 4:23 PM
I am well aware that Cameron didn't invent the name Pandora, I merely mentioned it because it would have been the last time most people have heard the name applied in a movie, tv show etc.

@tweeeeenkies3 I've been sayin this is "heroes reborn redux". Soon classic DCU will be back. And the DC where every big hero is a jerk will be no more
RunDTC
RunDTC - 1/3/2012, 4:59 PM
maybe she will put the DCU back to normal and put an end to the "reboot"
CraptainAmerica
CraptainAmerica - 1/3/2012, 5:11 PM
She could just be the ultimate get out clause?! I like some of your thinking!
HemingfordGrey
HemingfordGrey - 1/3/2012, 5:14 PM
Pandora has, and still does, seem to me like an "out" option for DC. If sales start declining, I feel they are going to pull her out of the wings and be like, "Oh no, you see this was all her creation from the beginning. So now we are going to have a huge cross-over event to fix everything! Make sure you buy all four hundred damn issues too. Of course, they will all be the same story, just every hero will have a different point of view."
Sigh. I love old DC, but honestly I hope New DC does well and realizes its mistakes and tweeks them enough so that everything is back to semi-normal.
tl;dr
I like Pandora. Should have left her nameless though.

BlindLemonShemp - 1/3/2012, 5:21 PM
i bet the last time he connected with it... the Flash impregnated the speedforce...

pandora is the twisted love child of Barry Allen/ and speed force energy
