The DC Universe will collide with characters from the world of Watchmen later this year in a story which picks up threads first introduced in DC Universe: Rebirth. We still don't know exactly what the story is going to entail but it's clearly going to have some major ramifications and the signs are pointing to the likes of Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias all making appearances in the twelve-part series.

Now, a new cover for Doomsday Clock #2 features a rather villainous Lex Luthor seemingly aligned with Ozymandias in a pairing which is sure to leave even the DC Universe's most powerful heroes running scared. The second cover features a random selection of superhero costumes but you'll want to take a closer look to see who these seemingly belong to. So, what exactly is Adrian Veidt up to in the event?

Here's a synopsis for the issue which drops some hints about what we should expect from the comic.

DC and Watchmen characters collide at last! The story that began in DC UNIVERSE: REBIRTH #1 comes to a thrilling and unexpected crescendo in the pages of this titanic twelve-issue series by the all-star team that brought you BATMAN: EARTH ONE and SHAZAM! In this second chapter: The Dark Knight discovers another relic from the Watchmen world. Lex Luthor pays a devil’s bargain. And killer clowns trek through Gotham seeking a madman.

Holy mother of Rao...

No words can describe my hype for this shit.
THIS.IS.IT. for me.
I dunno how Geoff can pull this off, how the f*ck he can match my expectations, but...gotta have faith here.

Superman is my favorite superhero, loved Watchmen, and i feel this will be the ultimate, the definitive Superman story.
Everything leads to this. DON'T LET ME DOWN GEOFF!

I've noticed a lot of recent crossover events start great then lose steam and end disappointedly as they go on with no real conclusion. I hope that isn't the case this time because this really sounds great.

Jor-El being Alive changes Everything for Kal-EL. He may be Superman's Greatest Villian or foe. But the EndGame Justice League vs Watchmen

What am I looking at in the first cover? I recognize the "Nostalgia" perfume, and it looks like a purse and striped stockings.
Not sure what it means.

The covers for this have yet to fail, Ozymandias's hand on Lex Luthor's shoulder foreshadows so much because his relationship with Dr. Manhattan is definitely parralled with Luthor and Superman's. It's particularly interesting when you factor in that Dr. Manhattan is no Superman. He's not a hero and doesn't really care for humans. I really hope that they don't try to turn him into a caring person moreso than the ultimate villain of the event and Superman will have to end up working with Luthor and Ozymandias to stop him.

I know is gearing up to be some big battle between supes and manhattan but would it really be a battle at all? Couldn't manhattan basically turn supes into pink dust with a lift if the finger?

Johns can barely handle Batman. I doubt he can convincingly write more nuanced characters like Ozymandias and the Comedian. A set of characters will be diminished and impoverished by his creative limitations, and I bet that the Watchmen characters will be the most affected by his insipid writing style.
