Action figures are a big seller for DC and it's not hard to see why when they look as cool as this! Now, the company has unveiled a series for Before Watchmen which put the spotlight on fan-favourite characters like Dr. Manhattan, Ozymandias, Rorschach, and the Comedian, alongside new additions Mime and Marionette. Designed by Gary Frank, they were sculpted for the company by Paul Harding.
These toys mark the first time DC Collectibles has actually made any action figures based on the Watchmen comic books. The last lot were based on the 2009 movie from director Zack Snyder.
The figure stand 7" tall and will be released in two-packs featuring Rorschach & Mime, The Comedian & Marionette, and Doctor Manhattan & Ozymandias. They'll be priced at $50 each. Dr. Manhattan
We've caught only a few fleeting glimpses of Dr. Manhattan in Doomsday Clock, specifically when we learned that he saved The Comedian and brought him to Gotham City to deal with Ozymandias.
The villain of the original Watchmen comic book series, Ozymandias is attempting to set things right in this new series but is currently hospitalised after being taken down by The Comedian.
Mime
The latest issue of Doomsday Clock confirmed that Mime is a metahuman and possibly the first of his type in the Watchmen Universe. What his role in this series will ultimately be remains to be seen.
Rorschach
Rorschach may have been unmasked but we still don't know all that much about him. Whether or not that will change remains to be seen, especially now that Batman has locked him up in Arkham Asylum!
The Comedian
The Comedian being back among the living is a neat twist but what exactly is he up to aligning himself with Dr. Manhattan? Getting revenge on Ozymandias for murdering him might be motivation enough!
Marionette also appears to be a metahuman and the prevailing fan theory is that she and Mime are actually The Joker's parents! It adds up and would be a very interesting plot thread to explore.
