We recently learned that, as a result of The Flash underperforming at the box office, plans for a Batman Beyond movie have been completely scrapped.
While Micheal Keaton's return as the Caped Crusader drew positive reviews from fans and critics alike, his Batman (who first swooped onto the big screen in 1989) clearly isn't a box office draw and the project - which was planned prior to DC Studios' creation - is now dead.
Many of you are no doubt still hoping for an animated revival, but in the meantime, Toonado.com has revealed that we have a new Batman Beyond comic book series heading our way this July from DC Comics.
Titled Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic, writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing return to Gotham City alongside artist Max Dunbar to pick up where Neo-Year left off.
"In Batman Beyond: Neo-Year," starts the solicitation text, "Terry McGinnis mourned the passing of his mentor, and defeated the evil A.I. controlling Neo-Gotham, asserting himself as the one true Batman, but this next battle will bring him to the remains of Old Gotham."
"Children are going missing and being swallowed by the city's old bones. Batman Beyond will have to go underground, led by a mysterious splicer named Kyle the Catboi, to find the children and confront the city's buried sins. What happened to the green of the city? What happened to magic? And what villains never left old Gotham?"
Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic will feature covers by Dunbar, Christian Ward, Ejikure, Belén Ortega, and Dike Ruan, and arrives in comic book stores and on digital platforms on July 25th.
