When DC's New 52 arrived in September, many fans wondered where this left some of their favorite Justice Society related characters. Would they be erased from continuity? Would they be revived in a new fashion? Would they return to their pre-Crisis state of being regarded as members of the parallel Earth Two? With the yesterday's announcement of the "Second Wave" of New 52 releases, including a series simply titled "Earth Two," it would seem the latter. Today, in an interview with Newsarama's Vaneta Rogers, writer, Paul Levitz has confirmed that even the characters of his new series, Worlds' Finest, The Huntress and Powergirl (both of whom were originally created as Earth Two characters) will have originated from Earth Two. He also explained that The Huntress from his current mini-series will be one and the same as the character presented in Worlds' Finest and that both Earth Two denizens have found themselves somehow transplanted to Earth One in the new series.
Levitz explains, DC's editors "came up with the core concept that the Huntress that I was working with should turn out to have come here from Earth 2. And we began planting clues toward that in the mini-series."
Discussing the debate of whether or not The Huntress will mirror the pre-Crisis version of the character who was the offspring of Catwoman and Batman, or the Helena Bertinelli character of the last few decades, Levitz goes on to say that, "We will ultimately know that she's Helena Wayne of Earth 2," adding he's "still working out all the dramatic potential in it."
He also sates that it will be revealed that the characters find themselves on the New 52 Earth because of events that occur in James Robinson's forthcoming Earth Two series.
We'll have to wait until the two series debut in the coming months to find out more.
